Cat (presenter): Now then, one
of the most earerly awaited pop releases of this year is from Hanson. Since
1999...1998 the lads have
been in the studio putting
together their second album. It's called ThisTime Around and it's released
in May. Now, last week they invited
CD:UK a bit of a chat. Here's
what happened.
All: Hi CD:UK
Zac: I'm Isaac
Isaac: I'm Taylor
Taylor: And I'm Zac
All: And we're Hanson, and we're back!
Ant (presenter) on voice-over: it's been two years now since we've seen the boys, what have they been up to !?!
Zac: Since I guess in '98 we ended and we did a US tour and we stopped...
Ike: Took a little break. Took a few months off.
Zac: And after that we've basically been working on the new album. Just finishing writing writing songs and...
Tay: the whole album process, yeah.
Ike: Yeah. we have a new album out called This Time Around, and the new single off the record's called If Only.
Tay: It's just, I think it's just about something everyone feels... having feelings for someone and going...
Ike: Should I tell them? Should i not?
Tay: Getting the guts to tell them how you feel. It's just the story of this guy saying, "If only I had the guts to feel this way. If only I would do this, if only I would do that."
Ike: The video is just based on, like, a day long excursion.
Tay: Sorta like a day in the life of.
Ike: We're kinda caravaning out into the desert with some friends of ours.
Tay: It really just like we're playing music for our own enjoyment..you know, we're out in the desert, just having a good time.
Zac: Not nesscercarily following the story of the song . It's just about, er, having fun really.
Ant (on voice-over): So, they've got a little older, a little wiser. But what's the main difference?
Ike: Something that is, that is, somewhat significant but we don't really notice it, is the voice change.
Tay: Yeah.
Ike: And people, I think, recognize that pretty right off, because, you know, the voices are different so they're not instantly going, "Oh, Hanson, with those little kid high voices."
Zac: Well, you can never beat Mmmbop. Mmmbop was amazingly successful. There's a bunch of people out there who really like that song.
Ike: It's not your goal to top Mmmbop or top something that you've done. I think your goal is to just do the best that you can and you, you hope that people will respond to it in a good way.
Tay: I dunno. I mean, girls are something that definitely something that's important to us, but, er, nobody has a, a steady girlfriend.
Ike: see, you get 20 page letters, you get scrolls, you know, 100 feet long that say 'I love you'.
Ant on voice-over: With a combined age of 49, they're no longer spring chickens. So what does the futre hold?
Tay: I think for the long future we wanna be playing music as long as we can.
Zac: We can have a longer future.
Tay: As, in the distant futre we'd like to be able to play music til we're old geezers, you know.
Tay: Thanks for watching, and we will see you later.
Ike: Bye-bye
Dec (presenter): And you can see Isaac, Taylor and Zac live in this very studio on April 15. Don't miss it.
