czasu (AMS 007R)
Ah, another album from Poland. This
seems to be natural talk when you hear an up-to-date symphorock follower.
Very regular one release after another appears in this formerly east-block
country. And what kind of albums! And so we absolutely welcome this one
too. Lizard is a five member band, combining dark atmospheres like UK with
Marillion-esque songstructures. All is sung in Polish, but that doesn't
any harm at all. The redaction of Symfo City just started to learn this
language before it will be the mother tongue here. Technically spoken this
band stands above their colleages from Collage, Abraxas and Quidam. 'W
galerii czasu' is a bit less accessible than the albums from these mentioned
bands. Concerning the cohesive structure in this album, it's no use to
see the songs apart. The complete album contains six (eight on the cdplayer-index)
songs with strong repeating themes completing a sort of concept. Very exciting
and dymanic passages are found in the instrumental parts, especially in
the longer tracks, such as the opener 'Kazdy dzien to wiecej ran w twejglowie',
'Galeria iluzji' and the last in line 'W krainie szmaragdowego jaszczura'.
This is not only for the 'Poland freaks'.
