Hey, I just wanted to say that I rediscovered the "La's" album and it is fantastic. You probably know this already, but the Japanese version of the album includes 8 bonus tracks...I grabbed those off of Napster. Maybe someday the very talented Mr. Mavers will release another album...we can only pray. -John in North Carolina

Fantastic! Good to see someone cares enough about one of the best bands to ever exist. Enjoyed the tab section, as I've got Ths La's songbook and it is always good to see a more accurate transcription of the songs (i.e. on your site - not the book!) Look forward to any news on Lee Mavers. I was lucky enough to see them live three times in 1990 and finally Christmas 1991. best Phil Deere

Lee Mavers is one of the few people who really know what music is about, who can blame him for ducking out when he did from commercial bullshit. Lee, keep it on la!

Lee Mavers was a drugged up fool have you not listened to the lyrics of There She Goes. I really dont think that you are in the position to judge John Power at least he is still in the music industry unlike Lee who has just pissed away his opportunity to be great. The album was wonderful but I really do think that other band members deserve some credit. Cast are fantastic and as a The La's fan I truly believe that you have give credit where credit is due, John Power is a very talented musician and he certainly is n t copy catting The La's.

The song "There She Goes" is a great song to listen to when I think of the Holy Virgin Mary. I created a power point presentation to this song and I plan on using it for my High School Confirmation class. The power point presentation has pictures of Mar during her life and her visitations and I change the pictures everytime I her "there she goes again". I have wondered if Lee Mavers would have gotten a kick out of that!

What a nice surprise that you check the message board! Thanks for stating the chords. I pretty much had those chords too, but it's the bridge that's driving me nuts. When I listen to the song, "There She Goes," I'm sure I'm hearing several guitars blen ed together. If I were able to take out just the acoustic rhythm guitar that is being strummed I'm sure I'd be able to figure out the chords for the bridge. With the guitars all mixed together it's hard to follow the simple rhythm guitar pattern. It so nds like the bridge goes: e- c there she goes e- c there she goes again d c g she calls my name d c g pulls my train d c g d c no one else can heal my pain e- c and I just can't contain e- c d this feeling that remains Oh well, I might be off the mark here. I've tried playing along with the CD and everytime I get to the bridge it seemed what I was playing was not in step, but this came closest. It also seems that the chorus at the end of the bridge follows a slightly ifferent chord pattern than the other choruses throughout the song. Got to run now. Sincerely, Kate Donohue, Glen Cove, NY USA

So this is the only one i ave now, and i lost the passwords to update it years ago. And Sylvains site is a thousand times better than mine so your better off going there. And by the way the Chords for there she goes are G D C D and the chorus is Am G C, its all in the tab section. Hope that helps. Long live Captain Mavers. -mecca

Hello! I doubt anyone will see this because it's now the year 2000 and the last update of this site was in '98. Oh well, I love the La's too. I first heard "There She Goes" on the radio about seven years ago and on the strength of the song bought the C . I liked the rest of the songs because they sounded so unusual and fresh, but I knew absolutely nothing about the band. Now that Sixpence None the Richer has had a big hit with "There She Goes" my interest in the original artists was rekindled. I had lso written the lyrics and chords done some time ago hoping to play it on the guitar. I was never satisfied with the chords I came up with and actually recently consulted the Sixpence version for any clues. I'm getting closer, but I'm still not there ye . When I have a good copy I will send it along. I'm sorry to hear that Lee has had so many problems. He's a good songwriter and I hope he keeps writing. That is more important than all the fame in the world and to enjoy life. Sincerely, Kate Donohue Glen Cove, NY 11542 USA

IMPORTANT. IMPORTANT Have you all discovered the album "Breakloose" - The Lost La's ? Its a 14 song collection of early recordings, taken from studio out takes, tape recordings, live stuff and generally rare and odd bits. One song "My Girl sits like a reindeer" - is obviously the precursor to "Feelin" , as it has the same chord progression ... and it says Mike Badger wrote it! On Viper records - CD002 Bar code number 0 666017 007724 Viper records po box Liverpool L17 7JE - England

As if it needs saying again, but this album is a thing of rare and sublime beauty - There she goes is simply a contender for one of the finest pop melodies ever, from start to finish its soul lifting, skin tingling , achingly gorgeous. Aint a patch on "That Feelin" mind you... did a rock song ever start so powerfully...?

Coming from Liverpool I'm a massive fan of the La's - their influence can still be felt around the city - with 'There she goes' regularly played in HMV and in the union at the University (which I attend.) Fucking top band, should reforem, I'd be the bass st, nuff said.

I recently became a fan of the La's after I bought a movie soundtrack CD from FilmFour4. When I listened to "There She Goes" I instantly recalled that it was played in the movie of "The Parent Trap". On the CD, it is listed as from the movie "Fever Pitch" I love the spirit in this song. The melody lifts my emotions in some way each time I hear it. And I tend to never get sick of listening to it! I am planning to buy more CD's of the La's.

i know the la's were boss, one of the best bands in the world, and that not enough people know about them, apart from either cultured, or lucky people. but as a fan of cast, i get tired of people saying "the la's were boss, and cast are shit". people expect cast and john power to be like the la's and better, but cast have nothing to do with the la's. apart from john, there's three other band members, and they make the sound of "cast" they should not be compared to the la's, and if they are, thats when cast are shit, because cast are not meant to sound like the la's, and they are not an attempt to re-juvenate the la's. they are a new, different band. they have different meanings, standing for things far more important than what Lee sang about. John's view is a wider one, spanning more area of importance, and life. John Power is a fuckin genius, la.

I'm from Kansas and as your visitor Scott stated on 10/23/98, "Kansas is not the most fertile place for music". I learned about the La's from an Entertainment Weekly magazine article. The La's were compared favorably to the Beatles (the most wonderful pe ple in the world) that was all I needed to know. My quest for The La's music was on, I looked everywhere, but to no avail. I was finally able to find the tape at a huge record store in New Orleans four weeks later when I visited a friend. It was as if 'd found the Holy Grail! I played that tape for everyone I knew in Kansas and they all enjoyed it! We were amazed that such young people could write such prolific and picturesque lyrics. We especially loved, "Looking Glass" and "Timeless Melody" (along with every other cut on the tape!). One day months later, "There She Goes", came on the radio at the grocery store, I thought finally KS has caught up with the times! I hummed and danced down the aisle to the produce department. It's just that kind of a song!! You know what I mean! This is the first info I've found on the group while surfing thanks loads! If you would like a copy of the Entertainment Weekly article I still have it. Keep up the great site your efforts are appreciated. PS I visited Liv rpool on a Beatles trek. It's a very friendly city. I didn't want to come home!

Hi! I do have some unusual La’s stuff, but most of it is b sides. In America, they issued a four song live ep as a promo with versions of "There She Goes” “Timeless Melody” and “I Can't Sleep” live. I also have a French single of “There She Goes” with some unusual b sides "Come In Come Out", "Who Knows", and "Callin' All (live)," import “Timeless Melody” “Feelin” 12” singles (all with b sides), and assorted 45s with b sides. I would love to trade tap s with people, especially for La’s live shows (audio and video), studio outtakes, bootleg CDs, and early songs on compilations. I could burn CDs in trade. I also collect REM boots from the 80’s, and have stacks of live shows, studio demos, and outtakes. If anyone is interested, please write to Rob at Baskervils@aol.com

Hi lads, Er, I dunno - I love the La's album to death, but maybe it'd be better if Lee lets the band's history rest in peace right there. Y'all remember a band called "The Stone Roses"???!!! Boy, didn't we look foreward to that sophomore record ... Legends have no sequels. Perfection might be a trace of talent, but it sure is a lucky shot. The La's have defined themselves in "Looking Glass". Why have them redefine something that can't and shouldn't be repeated. By the way, thanks to Go! The La's album is, in my opinion, the finest British Album of this decade. That having been said, let it be known that I love much of what has gone on in the English Indie scene since the Beatles made it an international phenomena; this includes 60's band such as Small Faces, Who, Kinks, Yardbirds, and Jones-era Stones; 70's stuff like Badfinger, Bowie, Jam, T.Rex, Wire, and Clash; 80's stuff: Bunnymen, Killing Joke, Gang of Four, Police, early-U2, and such; 90's stuff: Stone Roses, Oasis, Happy Mondays, harlatans, Blur, Smaller, Cast, and Supergrass. The La's made the best album since "Revolver", and there has been none better since. 'nuff said. Keep in Touch. Ta'. Lee, if you are around this page, contact me. You'll Never Walk Alone.

I love The La's. I cant believe i found stuff on the net about them. So who is the main man responsible for The La's? In other words, who has been the backbone of the band? Did they ever make any videos and if so, which song and did they ever release a vi eo compilation? Thanx for any help. bippity boppity, Andrew

I really enjoyed the La's album, but someone please tell Lee Mavers that not even Beethoven worked eight years on a single symphony.

In 1991 I used to watch 120 Minutes and caught "There She Goes". I thought that it was great retro. Three years later a good friend was playing a fucking brilliant record which turned out to be the La's. It is one of my most treasured Cds. Great site y the way...I had been searching and searching for something on La's. Hopefully the music and myth will grow. I would love to hear something new by Lee Mavers. If you know where I can get La's stuff, info, news etc., please email me.

Its great to get a wee bit of info to go with the record - thanks. The TAB is fantastic, it saves me and my ears a wee bit of time. The transcription is okay, well done

Well, one day there's only one La's site on the net and the next thing you know there's three! The La's deserve a hundred websites and if Lee got his act together there would be. May his genius be fulfilled on his next recording, whoever it be with. As lo g as they come to Australia!

There she goes is amazing, my fav song of all time. The rest of the songs are a let down in comparison, but they are pritty good, great in places, and if he could of rerecorded it again could of been the best album ever.

steven is the man!!! he answers mail promptly. the la's are cool, I finally got the cd, it's good. I figured that Lee went crazy because he couldn't write amazing songs like looking glass and there she goes in a consistent fashion. the rest of the son s were good, but they sounded like 60's basement tapes from bands like the beatles, the who, and kinks, stuff those bands made before they became great. anyway, I enjoy the myth of the la's and the fact that I can like a band of whom not many people are ware.

Great to see another site devoted to the genius of The La's. Was especially impressed by the 'news' bit - let's hope Lee gets his act together with this 'new band' before we're all pensioners.

Brilliant page...having a hard time getting to some of the tabs, but I'm sure that'll remedy itself in no time. Anyone got a good copy of that Chicago Metro show someone was talking about on Angus' guestbook? I've got some La's 12's to trade!!

WISH I'D HAVE GOTTEN ONE FOR ME. THE SHOW WAS GREAT, AND THE NEW SONGS TO BE ON THE 2ND ALBUM WERE EXCELLANT... LITTLE DID I KNOW... OH WELL, AT LEAST I SAW'EM!

The La's were the greatest band in existance and still are.Their greatest song is undoubtably 'Looking Glass'.No other word describes it better than "epic".
