Love & Peace : a CD where you can barely hear the singer and guitar, no bass, and only slightly hear the drummer. And this is a must have! I can hear you saying, "Are you nuts??" Nope. Well, maybe :) But not when it comes to this.
This CD features Jimi last public concert appearance before his death 12 days later (he would however do some jamming in a club a week or so later in London, with the band War).
I'm sure Jimi would have wanted something more magical to go out on, and not go as early in life as he did. But the past can't be changed, so we have to live with what we have. And we have this as Jimi's last official performance.
A pretty good performance, all things considered (major probs at the festival this concert was a part of), though hard to tell with the sound problems. Wind noise is a big problem, suggesting this may have been taken from one of the recording mics. No matter how it was done, at least it exists.
It's too bad all Hendrix concerts and recordings couldn't exist for everyone to enjoy.
Another tape exists, apparently from a better source(on the double CD `Wink Of An Eye', which also features the final concert of the original JHE lineup) which I will be picking up shortly, hopefully the sound will be much better on it.
This is defintely one aimed at the collector, for it's historical reference. And in a historical context, it is a must have.
