Olympic Gold

Olympic Gold, a two CD set, is made up of demos and takes of tracks that would appear on Jimi's first album Are You Experienced?. These tracks sound as if they were transferred from vinyl, and not recorded very well. Low volume throughout, and distant vocals hamper this release. Some interesting tracks however can be found, including one track I hadn't heard before :`No, No, No, No, No' aka `Ma Poupee Qui Fait Non' (translation: My Doll Does Not Speak). An interesting track, though to me it sounds suspiciously similiar to the Small Faces song Tin Soldier. The highlight of this set is easily the 4 takes of Red House, Jimi's blues masterpiece. Very interesting to see all the phases it went through before its final form.

As I mentioned, quality on this is rough, although after 30+ years for these tracks how can you complain about what you find?
