Although this may resemble a release with the same name, and some of the same material, this is not the Whoppy Kat release. These come from a second source.
Recorded late December, about a week before the Band Of Gypsys' concerts at the Filmore East New Years Eve/69-New Years Day/70. These tracks show the band working out the kinks in some of the old material, while at the same time working to get new songs new songs into shape.
It also shows some glimpses at fun times, even though Jimi was under considerable pressure at the time to deliver an album of material to Capitol Records, to satisfy a long standing contract dispute.
The Band Of Gypsys album would be the result, taken from the live concert performances of Jan. 1/70.
Sound quality is great, with only a little tape hiss present. Easily correctable with your equalizer, for all you "non-purists" out there :)
