The Completer

Whoopy Kat is back again, and again with a double CD release. This time it's a collection of studio tracks, some of which would appear butchered on the Crash Landing and Midnight Lightning releases. Compare these against the tracks on those two releases, and see just how much was lost in overdubbing under the supervision of Alan Douglas. Sheesh, it's been a while since I went on an AD rant :) But I won't, too much effort, and I'm behind on my reviews here :) The first CD starts off with some tracks that for the most part are the same as the final, just a vocal overdub or added guitar track by Jimi missing. Following those, we begin to get into the Crash Landing/Midnight Lightning material(must stay in control! :) ). Basically what you get are studio jams, roughing out a song into a final form, or just playing and seeing what comes out. A nice Isabella/Machine Gun shows up, but can't compare to the Band Of Gypsys Filmore performance, but then again, what could? CD 2 features more studio blues jams, and my personal fave on CD 2 is probably Easy Blues, just a nice melodic, flowing blues/jazzy track, then Jimi cranks it up just a notch for flavor :)

Excellent quality throughout this release. While I do have most, if not all, of these tracks on other CDs now, this is an excellent set for the fan who feels like stepping up to the next level; the one of fanatic :) This also makes an good set for someone who is interested in seeing Jimi at work in the studio. And also makes a nice addition for an electric blues fan. If you don't have these tracks yet, you should. And if you do already, get 'em again, support Whoopy Kat :)
