Crosstown Traffic

This is an ROIO, recorded August 3rd, 1968 at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. When I bought this one, the guy at the store told me he was really disappointed in the sound. So I was prepared for the worst. It starts out fairly decent, you hear the band tuning up in the background, nice and clear. The recording was done by someone in the audience, as you can hear people talking very clearly. But I hoped that they would be quiet during the concert. The concert begins, and as the band begins playing, the sound is fine. But once they start in with some volume, especially the bass, the recording gets real muffled. And Jimi's singing is almost totally unheard. Definitely had the input level way too high for this recording. Quiet parts of the songs are quite clear, and this is a pretty decent performance. Red House stands out as the best sounding track. Too bad it couldn't have been recorded with a little lower input level, this would have been a pretty good one.
