In Memorium


Now this is a cool one...a 3 disc set, In Memorium is comprised of the 2 concerts recorded at Konserthuset, in Stockholm Sweden, and a bonus 3rd disc. I had the 2 concert discs already, which were available under a couple different titles, including On The Killing Floor, and Konserthuset. The third disc is the one that is the cool part of this release. An interactive CD, which you use with your computer. It features an concert history organized by date, and some of the concerts listed also have track details. But this disc also features the video from the first set that night! You select a track from the menu, and it plays the concert footage! Or you can choose to view the whole first concert! They are in avi format, which is compatible with all Windows based PCs, if you prefer to play them outside of the built in menu program. This is a really cool concept, I think Midnight Beat just edged out Whoopy Kat as my favorite ROIO releaser. This video is also available in the 51st Anniversary box set, but on video tape (PAL format).

Quality of the video is a little grainy, but I've seen the source tape, and it's nearly the same. My only complaint with this CD is the concert menu doesn't have set lists for every concert it shows. I've looked at the files on the CD, and it appears that the others could be added manually, it would just take a little time. Maybe that'll be a project of mine this summer :) If those small things were done, this could EASILY be released as an official product, not only the quality, but the idea is that good. Way to go Midnight Beat!
