Voodoo Blues

Voodoo Blues is the title of this CD, and is probably a great short description of what Jimi's music is. The first half of this disc is made up of alternate mixes or demos of tracks that would appear on Jimi's third, and probably best album, Electric Ladyland. Good quality, but not great. Most of these tracks have appeared on countless other boots. The second half, entitled Rarities From Somewhere features some studio jams, and alternate takes of release songs. Again, nothing really rare here. Just a note, the track indexing is completely off on this disc, select a track on your CD player, and you'll end up getting the last 10 seconds or so of the song you wanted, the beginning of the song actually on the track before it. At least the song isn't interrupted during the track change.

Quality isn't too bad for these tracks, a little noise here and there though. The track indexing problem is very annoying however. The cover is probably the best feature of this disc. It took me forever to figure out just what was on the cover. I just happened to run across it on another site, and when I went to click on the thumbnail to see a larger version, I saw the link was called something like nude.gif :) Yep, it's two nude women on the cover, though you might have to stare at the cover for a bit before you notice. This is one for the completists/JimiNuts out there, rather than the average fan.
