Welcome To The Electric Circus Vol.1

Well after about a run of 10 studio discs, we're back into live concerts again. Welcome To The Electric Circus was recorded January 10, 1969 at the Falkoner Centret in Copenhagen, Denmark. The band opens with Fire, follows with Foxy Lady, then gets into serious jamming mode. A 13 minute plus version of Tax Free which then leads to a nearly 9 minute Spanish Castle Magic. How can you top that? How about 16 minutes of the always fantastic Red House? And then a 8 minute plus Sunshine Of Your Love! And still more jamming, another almost 9 minute jam I Don't Live Today/Star Spangled Banner with a little Third Stone From The Sun thrown in for good measure! The first show closes with an somewhat extended Purple Haze. This release contains the entire first concert; the Experience would play 2 concerts this day. Only 4 songs are known to exist from the second show, they are not on this release however.

This is a Midnight Beat release, so you can count on quite good quality. Vocals are a bit distant, and the music tends to clip a bit at times, but still a decent recording. The band was in good, relaxed form this night, and the concert definitely benefits from it.
