Welcome To The Electric Circus Vol.2

Recorded on Sept.3, 1970 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The 1970 tour, which had started strong and grew in strength, had now begun to wear on Jimi. He had to stop the concert the day before due to exhaustion. Jimi was still tired this night, but managed to put together a decent performance none the less. An interesting set list though, as he chose to close the concert with what was his usual opener, Fire. All Along The Watchtower makes a rare appearance, one of only 8 known live versions. And even though you can tell the band is tired, they manage to jam out a 13 minute version of Voodoo Child (Slight Return), and even slip a 9 minute Red House in there as well for good measure. This disc is missing 6 tracks however from making it a complete show, but these tracks do exist, including on the Copenhagen 2 disc set. The three songs the band managed to play the night earlier, before Jimi had to cut the concert short, are also on this disc, though they are missing from my CDR copy of it. These three songs can also be found as bonus tracks on the Whoopy Kat L.A. Forum 1970 2 disc set.

Quality on this is comparable to Welcome To The Electric Circus Vol. 1. which was pretty good. The two discs together compliment each other nicely. The extensive touring was getting to Jimi, but this disc shows that he could manage to rise above the pressure to deliver the goods.
* Note : These come from the aborted concert of September 2nd, 1970
