The second of the Ryko releases, Radio One is a collection of performances the Experience did for British Radio. Fun performances, and more laid back playing than you hear on the album versions of these songs.
Standout track is without a doubt `Drivin' South'. This song is one of those ones you put in while driving on a hot summer day, with the top down, and crank as loud as you can until the whole car shakes. Blistering guitar work from Jimi. A kickass tune!
Also some great blues on this one (Catfish Blues, Hoochie Koochie Man, Hear My Train), fun tracks (Day Tripper, Hound Dog), and great versions of album cuts. I suspect this one is either out of print, or soon to be, as the new BBC Sessions contains all these tracks and 13 others.
So for the collector, grab it while you can, and the average fan? Skip this, and go straight for the new BBC Sessions double CD. The songs on it are more complete, and there's 13 more classics on it as well.
