Rainbow Bridge

Jimi's had planned on his 4th record for Reprise being a double album. After his death though, that idea was scrapped. There weren't enough songs completed at the time for it, so The Cry Of Love was put together and released. Jimi's manager, Michael Jeffrey, had just finished filming a movie, Rainbow Bridge, in which Jimi had made a cameo appearance, and done some live performing at the end. He wanted a soundtrack for his movie, and had Eddie Kramer assemble what was left of TCoL sessions, and augmented it with a live version of Hear My Train A Comin' to give what became known as Rainbow Bridge. Good songs throughout, the live Hear My Train is incredible (and can be found on the Blues CD); Pali Gap is a great late night tune; Hey Baby, what can I say, probably my second most favorite Hendrix song, and only because I didn't dare play it for fear of wearing my record out. Much of this has now come out on the First Rays Of The New Rising Sun release, Star Spangled Banner (a studio, multi-layered guitar version) being the exception. One of about 4 records in my Hendrix collection.
