In early 1970, a movie was made by filmmaker Chuck Wein, and financed by Jimi's manager Michael Jeffrey, supposedly a statement on the 60's lifestyle (at least as far as I can figure this movie out), and was called `Rainbow Bridge'.
Filmed in Hawaii, and supposedly showing the life of a woman (Pat), and the things she faces (boyfriend, breaking up, etc). She goes through her day, and at the end of the movie, goes to a concert, a concert in which Jimi, Mitch, and Billy are playing in the crater of the dormant Haleakala volcano.
This movie also features Jimi in a small cameo role, talking with Pat, and Chuck Wein, in some stoned rambling session. The text of this scene can actually be found on the inside of the Rainbow Bridge album cover.
I definitely recommend fast forwarding through the "story" until you get to the point where the concert scene begins. There were 2 concerts that day (which can be found on the bootleg Last American Concert Vol.1 & 2 releases), and according to Janie Hendrix of Experience Hendrix, remastered CDs/video of these performances are slated for release sometime in the future.
Hopefully *just* the concert, as the rest of the movie is truly unbearable to watch.
Geez, if people in the 60's were this out of it, maybe I should be worried that I was born in 1965 ;)
