There were 4 concerts by the Band Of Gypsys (actually, a couple more but they weren't complete concerts), 2 on December 31, 1969 and 2 on January 1, 1970; afternoon and evening performances.
The performances that would wind up on the official release were from the January 1st afternoon show. The recordings on this 2 CD set were taken from the December 31st sets. An ROIO of course, as the master recordings were to have been lost.
When Jimi's family regained control of his estate, a lot of previously thought lost tapes managed to surface and be turned over. Hopefully the tapes from these 2 days will also make their way home.
