The third of the new batch of CDs, Rarities is a collection of, well, rarities assembled onto one CD. When it originally came out, it probably deserved the title Rarities more than it does now. There are some tracks from BBC Sessions, Loose Ends, Band Of Gypsys 3, B-sides, outtakes etc.
Nothing that is really all that rare now. But, there are 2 gems on this CD, at least in my eyes (I'm not as up on the recent ROIO's as I wish I was, I'm sure these have been out many times before but...).
They are "My Diary" and "Utee" by Rosa Lee Brooks, featuring a then-unknown 19 old guitarist by the name of Jimi Hendrix. Recorded in 1962, these are Jimi's first recorded performances, including his first guitar solo ever recorded, on "Utee"
Very R&B style tracks, and pretty catchy. These two tracks were recorded from LP, but crackle is minimal. I'd recommend this CD for historical purposes, rather than for `Rarities'. But a decent selection of songs from other bootlegs, this CD could give you some ideas what bootleg you'd like to pick up next.
