"The Glam Slam Kings of Noise", originated in 1983 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as a band named Paris. Curiously, their real names are: Bret Michael Sychak (Bret Michaels), Alan Ream (Rikki Rockett), Bruce Anthony Johannesson (C.C. DeVille), and Harry Kuykendall (Bobby Dall).
After relocating to Los Angeles and undertaking an extensive self-promotion campaign that saw the group plaster their own concert advertisements on virtually every empty wall in town, vocalist Brett Michaels, guitarist C.C. DeVille, drummer Rikki Rockett, and bassist Boby Dall, landed a record deal and recorded in 1986 their first L.P. "Look What The Cat Dragged In", which quickly went Platinum.
In 1988, their second album "Open Up And Say... Ahh!" reconfirmed the band’s position allowing them to get known all around the world. Two years later, Poison released "Flesh & Blood" which took them to a long tour and ended up with the release of their first Live L.P. "Swallow This Live" in 1991.
After eight years of being together, the group went into troubles, and as a result, guitarist C.C. DeVille was fired from the band, and quickly look for a replacement.
Poison finally found guitarist Richie Kotzen, and in 1993 went into the studio to record their fifth album titled "Native Tongue", which explores more of the blues, an element that has always been obvious on Poison's earlier efforts. Unfortunately, this album didn’t succeed commercially, and finally brought a temporary band parting, leaving only the remains of the good old Poison with a last compilatory album called "Poison's Greatest Hits 1986-1996", featuring 16 of Poison's greatest hits, plus 2 new studio songs with new and short lived guitarist Blues Saraceno. This album's got'em all; everything from "Talk Dirty to Me" to "Something to Believe In".
1996 marked the joyfull return of guitarist C.C. DeVille, and the band's split with Capitol Records. Before that, Poison, featuring guitarist Blues Saraceno, recorded "Crack a Smile", which remains unreleased, due to the mentioned events. "Crack a Smile" is now available only as a bootleg.
Currently, the band is writing individually in hopes to meet soon to craft yet another Poison masterpiece. In the mean time, Bret is working on his movies in conjunction with Charlie Sheen, and is slated to release a solo album soon (August 25th.) to support his movie, "A Letter From Death Row". Rikki is writing his own comic book series called "Sisters of Mercy". Bobby and C.C. are both working on their own in anticipation of the next Poison record.

Desafortunadamente, éste álbum no triunfó comercialmente y al final trajo una ruptura temporal de la banda, dejando sólo los recuerdos del viejo Poison con su último álbum compilatorio llamado "Poison’s Greatest Hits 1986-1996", que incluye 16 de los mejores éxitos de Poison, más 2 nuevas canciones de estudio con el nuevo y efímero guitarrista Blues Saraceno. Éste álbum lo tiene todo, desde "Talk Dirty to Me" hasta "Something to Believe In".
1996 marcó el alegre retorno del guitarrista C.C. DeVille y la ruptura de la banda con la Capitol Records. Antes de eso, Poison, con el guitarrista Blues Saraceno, grabaron "Crack a Smile", el cual permanece sin ser lanzado, debido a los eventos mencionados. "Crack a Smile" se puede conseguir ahora sólo como "bootleg".
A la fecha, la banda está escribiendo individualmente en esperas de reunirse pronto para maquilar otra obra maestra de Poison. Mientras tanto, Bret está trabajando en sus películas en unión con el actor Charlie Sheen y está próximo a lanzar su álbum como solista muy pronto (Agosto 25), apoyando su película, "A Letter From Death Row". Rikki está escribiendo su propio libro de historietas seriadas llamado "Sisters of Mercy". Bobby y C.C. están trabajando por su cuenta anticipando ya el próximo disco de Poison.
