Our story begin in a sunny summer afternoon, where i went to meet the most famous band members in the country. True for now. We met at Edan's house, who is in a very quiet area in Tel Aviv (what do you think we'll tell you where?!). Four of the other members coming one after another to the house and everything is set to the start of the celebartion interview. Why celebration? Cause on Tuesday, the new album "everybody dancing now", the second album, will be release in Israel.

What is in this album that wasn't in the first?

Edan: "there is 10 new songs and 1 remix".

Amir: "What different is that besides one text that wrote Igi Vaksman, all the songs been writing by the band members and Shy Lahav. We had songs of other producers, but it came out that we love our own material. The work on the new album, against the other one, was very intesivy - We recorded it in three months. We actually lived in the studio".

How did the songs born?

Edan: "Big part of the songs were written on the road, travelling to the shows. We are travelling all over the country, and we always look for ideas for the songs. In the studio, at the reharsals on the stage, at parties. Who ever will listen to the album will feel that we're complete each other".

Do you take your music as a commercial thing or as creative? Artistic?

Edan: "We are a few innocents people, who likes music and can perform".

Eyal: "I don't think we have to apologise for been commercial. We just want to forward our creativity to the audience. Now we change our michrophones to hand michrophones, because of the screaming fans we couldn't heard the way we sing".

Amir: "If it was someone else you wouldn't ask him that question. Everyone in this band lives Hi Five. We don't do anything else besides that, we live each other from morning to evening. The studio was our house during the recording. We work on the dance, the show. We are very proud and we gave our soul in every steop that we don't. It's not just creative - It's the creative."

Don't you feel that people disparage in you?

Eyal: "We learn to listen only to ourselves. If someone want to say that i'm a model who sings, let him say. Let them say what they want, they prepare us for this".

Shahar: "Everything that interest us is to go ahead, to move on. All the res isn't important at the moment".

On the wall outside the production office lots of addresses writing, love messages such as; Amir+Sigi=Love. Those kind of thigns in the guys houses made them change houses very often.

How the fans find out were do you live and your phone numbers?

Amir: "They have a great information network. They go to "Bezeq" computers network, the city hall, electric, everything in porpotion".

Edan: "They follow after our cars when we come back from shows, and thier parents help them".

Amir: "There are times when it's really hard. Like today, i tear a fan a film from the camera cause she tried to take a picture of me near the house. That's the way she'll learn not to do it again. Some days that we fight with them trying to explain them why it's wrong. Our house is not a fans meeting place, and the neighbours already kicked us out a few times because of it. Just now i moved a place in the fifth time in two years. I know how to move a place in 24 hours".

Edan: "My roommate left cause the fans swore her on the phone. She's a student and when she comes back home she didn't want to take it. I can understand her".

Michael: "I am a private man, it's not nice to see someone waiting on my step door when i came back home. It's make it sick. I used to dry my perpiration and i through the handkerchief to the garbage, they ran and took it! I can understand autographs but handkerchief full of sweat?!"

Shahar: "I found myself trapped in the house for two hours cause the fans knocked on my door and scream. I couldn't get out".

Edan: "Last week me and Amir did the marathon cause a group of girls ran after us. It scary. You say; "what are they gonna do to me? I'm a man!", but they pull the hair and it's sometimes suffocate."

You can understand the admiration, but why this craziness?

Eyal: "Craziness it's a hard word. I don't think our fans are crazy".

Amir: "In a country when everything is hard, Hi Five gave the teen ages something that made them smile, and that's what bought everyone. It's a joy till all the way".

Shahar: "There is no choice, if in one second the fans see you in reality and you're not nice to her, you are delete to her".

Michael: "We adore the fans, without them there is no band".

It sounds like a slogan, but it's not. Even though with the fans caziness they are trying to keep the relationship with them. Every fan that send a letter to them, get a reply back sometimes in a letter and mostly with a phone call. "The reaction usually is a shock or histeria or that the whole familiy is on the speaker", Amir tells. "They know about us stuff, that even us didn't know".

Could be that those phone calls you are encouraging the annoyance?"

Eyal: "It's true but you can't ignore them, they put a lot of effort in those letters".

Edan: "We are the topic of their conversation and we can't allow ourselves to ignore them. We recognise the girls in concerts, and it's important to us that they'll know that we read their letters".

Are there things that you can't do?

Eyal: "We going to the supermarket only at nights, movie i haven't seen in years, i want to go to the north, go to the Keneret, but they follow you everywhere".

Amir: "All thise strikes aren't accepted. Suddenly everywhere full of kids in the morning".

Edan: "The summer break is here, maybe we'll open the Hi Five Camp".

Aren't you afraid that one day it'll be over?

Eyal: "We know that it'll be over one day. But we're not scared of that. It'll happen naturally. You can't accept that people will adore you when you'll be fifty".

Two fans knocked in the door. Edan explain to them nicely that he doesn't want to be bother. They say that they met the girls who broke to Amir's house and they want to return the glass and the soup cup that was stole from there. "And what about the electric kettle?", Amir complains right after they leave. "I feel really bad cause of the neighbours", Edan says. "One day i'll invite the police cause i don't have a choice. They still things from my mail box and bills. I don't know if i'll let my kids hand around like that all day in the streets. There used to be a girl who waited a whole day for us in the sun, and then she asked to came in cause she needed to throw up and she nearly fainted. It scared me, we have a responsibility for our fans. We used to cancal fans meeting cause they put there too many children and we didn't want someone to get hurt. I am not in this band so that people will admire me, but to make people happy".

Amir: "I think we already signed to the whole country. I don't understand who doesn't have our autograph yet".

If another band come out in this country, what would you advice them?:

Amir: "Only from the people who came to auditions of Hi Five you could create two bands and competition is a good thing. i hope there'll be more bands like us, and i wish them to work hard and success".

Eyal: "One of the most important thing is support of the record company, beside that you'll have to have lots of patient and a lot of luck".

If and when Hi Five will split up, do you think about solo career?

Eyal: "Our success didn't come easy. We believed ourselves, we continue to perform to the aduience and we didn't gave up. A the minute that we'll have enough with Hi Five then we'll split for sure but only now we released our second album".

Shahar: "If our appreciation to each other will stopped and we'll get sick to see eachother, then will split. A solo career? We don't think about that".

Amir: "To sing solo, yes. But right now we live Hi Five. Everyone wil turn their own ways when it'll be over. But right now we're just starting our lives."

Who will succeed the most?

Amir: "What am I? Cards reading?"

Did success change you?

Michael: "Absolutely. There is no person in the world who wouldn't change from success. When i go out from the house at the morning i'm not a private man, i'm Michael from Hi Five, and i have to give example for the teen ages. I am very proud at myself for did it".

Eyal: "We commitment to the band. We have responsiblity and maturity that came during the discipline that you need to be a member in a successful band. No one gave us nicknames and charachters like they did with the Spice Girls and we're not models either".

Were there friends who lost their contact with you because of Hi Five?

Eyal: "If they were, it's because everyone went to a different way in life and not because of Hi Five. My friends are study in University, and it's hard to keep in touch with them".

Edan: "I live with my best friend, Daniell, as a roommate. We have to keep the things we had before the band otherwise it's easy to loos our insanity."

Amir: "Look, we're in Israel, and there is no reason to enthusiate, we're driving in cabs adn not in a limousines. Our friends are a bit suffering from annoynace. They all been through the embarassment parts, and now they help us work on the fans. They already got used to it".

Girls don't afraid to go out with you because you are in Hi Five?

Amir: "If they do, it's their lost, cause i think we're great guys. If someone embarass to go out with me on the street cause i'm from Hi Five, and she has all this opinions on me, then she has a big problem."

Eyal: "It's a little problem, as a famous guy, to go out with someone. And not because of me, because of her. 'What, you are famous, from Hi Five?, What am I, a fan? If i'll be with you they'll think i'm groupie?'... It's hard for me to meet new people, most of my friends are before the band or from the begining. I met new people but it's weird."

Amir: "It's harder to trust someone, cause people talk about us. I could trust someone from the beginning, but today i'm more careful".

Shahar: "I have a girlfriend now that it doesn't bother her. I don't like to say i'm from Hi Five but when i used to go out with girls before i have my girlfriend, some of them thought that i want to take advantage of them, because i'm famous."

"Edan", "Edan", a quiet voice of young girl sounds behind the window. Another group of girls gathered under Edan's window. He's hurry to get his head outside and ask them to leave the place. He's keeping quiet and calm but you could see that he's upset. "Some of them lost their polite", he says. "They allow themselves too much".

Eyal: "People threw egs on us during concerts, mostly open ones, people come to get wild. Some boys in the first song call us gays and after two songs they arleady sings the words. It's reasonable that not everybody like us, it's fine".

Are there any differances between all of you?

Amir: "Sure. We are five minds. We argue, we yell, we fight, even when it comes to fans".

Eyal: "We are very open and we talk about everything and there are no secrets. Everyone decide together everything and always find the middle. During one of our last drive we fight about every little thing during the whole time. Because it's too good for us, we are looking things to fight about. On the radio, the smoking on the road, on movies, on crap. We are more than friends and more than family. Two and half years we're together 24 hours a day. They know me better than anyone".

Shahar: "But always after we fight we calm down".

Do you jealous at eachother?

Amir: "Very. Look how smooth Eyal's hair, it's not fair".

Michael: "We are five brothers. I am very proud of them and want to be like them. I want to sing like him, talk like him ad dance like him...."

Shahar: "We are five different type of people".

Eyal: "Because we different we complete each other. In the band we're all the same".

People beside the band jealous at you?

Edan: "A jealousy that comes from only from people in the street. The close area very supportive."

Do you have an inner stuff? Nicknames?

Amir: "We have a whole book of words that we used only between us and no one can understand. It's our private fun and that's the way it'll keep. Who ever really curious can listen to the song "Everybody dance now", there is a whole rap part of Michael's that who ever understand it will find out our nicknames".

How do you keep your look?

Amir: "We work at the gym. We took a lot of anergy out during the reharsals. We have our own book but it's part of our lifes. We don't tear ourself for our looks".

It looks like you go and get ritcher from this bussines.

Eyal: "A lot of inner happiness".

Amir: "Like everyone we work very hard for the money. We live good, and we don't have minus in the bank, but we are far from been millionars."

There are a lot of sexual messages in your songs.

Eyal: "We sing about love, and sex is part of it. The young people knows what we are talking about cause today warness for sex is very high. Our words talk from the eye-high and we doesn't take it to a specific age. I can't imagine myself giving sexual message to a 14 years old girl. They can read whatever they want, we are not hiding messages. I once got a letter full of rude words that i was embarass to read it, i was in shock. What embarass? A 14 years old girl tells me: "I want to have sex with you?".

Amir: "I want a girl who's not a fan that everything i'll tell her is yes".

What does it need to take, god forbid, to make Hi Five split up?

Hi Five: "Truely god forbidden....."
