All About The Boys (A Biography)
The Backstreet Boys are 5 guys from Orlando, Florida. In the early 90s, Howie Dorough and A.J. McLean met through a talent competition. At that time, A.J. had Howie's former vocal coach, who introduced them. Then at another audition, they met Nick Carter. The three of them became good friends and started singing together for fun. In 1993, at another audition, they met Kevin Richardson. He was currently working at Disney MGM Studios playing Aladdin for the tourists. Kevin joined the group and said he knew someone who would be the perfect 5th member for the group. It was his cousin Brian Littrell, who sang in church for pretty much all of his life. Kevin called his cuz and Brian flew to Orlando from Lexington, Kentucky.
They named themselves after a fave Orlando teen hangout called the Backstreet Market. They caught the ear of the executives at Jive Records, who heard them sing a cappella and saw one of their shows. After that, they got their record deal. They released the single "We've Got It Goin' On", but it wasn't that big in the States. But when they realeased it in Europe, Canada, and other countries around the world, before they knew it, they were topping the charts!!
