Back To Nowhere
COLUMNS

And so we wave goodbye, for a while at least, to a stalwart of the
'Crack On' scene, Stu Bowman. Early tomorrow morning he sets off
on his 2 year trek across America, New Zealand and Australia. It
was a lot of fun this past weekend giving him a good send-off but
it was with some sadness that I said goodbye to him last night. He
will be missed around here. Stu's a fun person to go to the pub /
football / gigs with, but hey, I certainly wish him all the best
on his upcoming journey!
I think I say this every time I sit down to write one of these
crappy missives but I hope to add quite a lot to Back To Nowhere
in the coming weeks. Yup, I definitely say this a lot! More
reviews of gigs and records plus opinions on various pubs and
venues visited... I'm also thinking of putting up some old interviews
with the likes of Manic Street Preachers, HDQ and Drive from the old
Back To Nowhere.. who knows?
One thing I do know is that this year is turning into a classic
year for gigs. Already we've seen great shows from Horace Pinker,
Wesley Willis and Stephen Malkmus among others, and it takes my
breath away to see the names of the bands I'm almost guaranteed
to see play before the year is out - Hot Water Music, Leatherface,
Twelve Hour Turn, Small Brown Bike, Planes Mistaken For Stars,
Brandtson, Appleseed Cast, Gameface, Lawrence Arms.. and that's
just for starters. Sometimes we really don't know how lucky we
are! :-)
