BROMLEY 2 EPSOM & EWELL 0 – LEAGUE 24/04/04
The last home game of the season for Bromley and before the game Wade Falana announced it was to be his last game at Hayes Lane before he retired.
Basement boys Epsom started brightly and had a couple of half chances, before Bromley got to grips with the game and started to dominate. Vines missed an open goal from a Willy cross and Falana hit a shot just wide as Epsom were put under increasing pressure. Falana headed a cross against the crossbar and the rebound was well saved by Hyatt, before finally on 41 mins the opening goal came from Youth Team Captain Chris Hill. He executed a delicate chip from the edge of the box just in under the bar leaving Hyatt stranded. 1-0 at half time.
Bromley continued their dominance in the second half, with Epsom barely getting out of their own half. Harwood was called upon to make one fine save, but he was largely a spectator. The home crowd were really disappointed to see Falana substituted on the hour mark, but gave Wade a massive reception both when he walked off and when he came round behind the goal on his way to the dressing room. Watson and Amoako both acme on just to make the day even harder for the Epsom back line! Watson had a shot cleared off the line by Williams after great work down the left by Zahana-Oni. The main source of frustration for the Ravens came in the form of the officials who were terrible. Line calls were given wrong, a back pass to the keeper was ignored and Amoako was clearly fouled in the box, but no penalty was given. The game was finally put beyond doubt on 77 mins when a Wilfort cross was turned in by Amoako after Watson had been denied. Bromley played some nice stuff, but the opposition were really poor and the draw we got in the December away game was shown up to be the awful result it was. The fans and players applauded each other at the final whistle and the season was nearly done.
