I Had My Moment II
by Mark Sherrick

July 1st, 2000
I’m once again standing on a chair
this time around twelve thirty,
with twenty six thousand
other people around me
in every direction I can look in,
a different band is back onstage,
playing their last song of
a two day stand
(a cover of the Beatles’
While My Guitar Gently Weeps)
I’m standing on my chair,
arm in arm with my girlfriend
who’s standing on her chair,
and we’re both looking all around us
at all twenty six thousand people
dancing and swaying in unison,
and once again,
tears are streaming down my face,
living with the moment, listening
to the one song I never thought I’d hear,
hugging my girlfriend tight,
and hearing her on the verge of
losing it just as I have.

I’m no longer standing on a chair
surrounded by twenty six thousand,
but I still...and always will remember
how it was...
