Friendship
by Mark Sherrick

Part 1: Your View...

To you
friendship is like a book
with a nice cover
leather binding, foil embossing
on the outside
many stories on the inside
stories going back
a long time
to when we were kids
some stories are good
some bad, some happy
and some indifferent
But you see many stories
many get togethers, time
well spent with your friends
that is what you see
in your book,
through your eyes.
I’m glad you think
its been that way...

Part 2...And Mine.

This is what I see.
I too see a book
but I see no nice
leather covering
or foil emobssings on the cover
I see a softcovered notebook
I see stories as well, but not as
many as you see.
I see five or six, sometimes even
ten or more
blank pages in between each story
I see a few stories of
anger, hate, and misunderstanding
that arent in your book,
and I see a few of the same happy stories
that you see in your book.
I wish that you could see my book
and that we could find a way
to turn my book into the book that
you think you see in front of you.
