Soggy French Fries
By Mark Sherrick

Sitting alone at my table, with my blue tray
emblazoned with the Endicott name, staring at my
two glasses of soda, my bulk manufacture cheeseburger,
and my soggy french fries, making notice of the
five empty chairs surrounding the rest of my table,
that should be occupied by someone,
yet they are not.
Watching the people walk by and not sit down with me,
but at other tables off to the right and left instead,
also with their endicott trays, bulk cheeseburgers and soggy fries.
I cant be bothered to eat but half of my meal, before it becomes
cold and inedible, so I get up to leave, carrying my blue tray,
with my empty glasses and half eaten bulk cheeseburger,
to the garbage.
While leaving, I walk by my old table, and I already see
four people seated there, with their endicott trays,
their bulk cheeseburgers and soggy fries.
I wonder why they chose my table, and if they would finish
their meals. Somehow I decide they wont, because thats just
how it is here at endicott, with our school trays,
bulk cheeseburgers and soggy french fries on the side.
