Chow Time With the BACKSTREET BOYS! - BOP Oct 00

Who's the fast-food junkie and the health-food aficionado? Who's the slowest and fastest eater? Find out all this and more as Nick, A.J., Kevin, Brian and Howie dish the details about their eating habits!

Nick's messy munchin'
Since the "The One" songsters are always on the go, Nick Carter knows he has no time to waste. So forget about sitting down, taking his time and chatting between bites! This way-busy tunester has learned to down his chow Speedy Gonzales style. "I eat really fast," he admits.

Because time is precious in this tunester's world, Nick, who says he craves "double cheese pizza" the most, isn't very neat during grub time either. "I am a messy eater," the 20-year-old Tampa, Florida native confesses. Like, does he spill food al over the place, on himself and on other people, we wonder? "I am not that bad," he laughs. But Brian and Howie interject, "Yes, you are!"

A.J.'s golden arches
Twenty two year-old A.J. McLean is definitely not the Backstreet Boys healthiest eater. "I eat complete fast food. I do!" he smiles. "I could eat McDonald's 24/7 -- for breakfast, lunch and...well, actually no. I take that back. I could eat lunch and dinner at McDonald's. But I don't like their breakfast, so I go for Burger King's croissant."

With a steady diet of burgers, fries and buttery croissants, how does always-on-the-go A.J. stay so McLean (hee, hee)? Although the West Palm Beach, Florida-born singer admits his diet could be healthier, he says he is blessed with a high metabolism that keeps him trim. "I don't gain weight. Not a pound!" he explains. "I can eat everybody under the table. I can get two quarter pounders, a six-piece chicken nuggets, and two large fries and a coke and boom! I don't know where it goes. It guess it goes to my feet," he laughs.

Kevin's creative fixing
Unlike A.J., Kevin Richardson tries to eat healthy-although he finds it almost impossible to do so with their jam-packed schedule. "I try to eat really healthy, but it's hard because we usually don't have time to eat good meals," he laments. So this Lexington, Kentucky-born babe goes with the flow and creates fun meals at fast-food places. "I get two plain hamburgers with ketchup, mustard and pickles and a fish sandwich with no tartar sauce. I take the fish pattie and one of the hamburgers off the bun, and I put them in the other hamburger," the 28-year-old smiles. "We call it a surf and turf."

Brian's healthy choice
Kev's cousin, Brian Littrell, is the most careful about what he eats. The Lexington, Kentucky native says that the key to healthy eating is to eat only when you are hungry, not every time there are yummy treats--like a box of Twinkies or a pint of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey--staring right at you. And, B-Rok says, it is also good to know when you've had enough. "I only eat until I am full, and that's it," the 25-year-old babe explains, adding that he does give in occasionally when his taste buds acts up. "I crave pizza and macaroni and cheese," he smiles.

Howie's gourment taste
Nick, A.J., Kevin and Brian may have their favorite foods, but the guys dish that nobody takes eating more seriously than Howie Dorough. "Howie eats really slow," Brian dishes about his 26-year-old songmate. "And he eats everything on his plate." And when huggable Howie gets really hungry, he prefers to eat at a good restaurant than at the local fast-food chain. "I love oriental food," Orlando, Florida-born Howie raves. "But not like sushi. I like the food you can get at a Japenese steak house, and I also like spicy Chinese Food." Yum, Howie, you're making our taste buds tingle!
