The band started on Superbowl Sunday, 1996 in Kevyn's garage. It was originally Jason on drums and Kevyn on guitar and vocals, but Jason soon switched to bass. In May of 96 the band recruited drummer Peter Lavis. After a few months the band had played a few shows and released a demo. Around this time they also aquired a trumpet player (Rory Bialeki) who dressed up in a cow suit. He rarely actually played, he mostly just danced and jumped around a lot. At this time Peter decided that the band wasn't taking the route he thought it would so he left the band after a performance at West Seneca West Senior. Rory also left the band at this time. After a few months of looking for a new drummer Kevyn and Jason met Terry through a mutual friend (Adam "funk daddy" Franklin), and the band is what it is now.
Since Terry joined the band, The Skanks have found a more defined sound and have got there act together. We have played more shows and on April 15th we recorded a new tape, "Kooler Than Elvis", at Atomic Gardens. After everything that could possibly go wrong did, the tapes were finally ready.
