There was some uproar when Mel B's parents got married, since her mother was white, and her father was black. Mel B was confused about who she was as a kid. "My surname's Brown, and I thought when I was really young that I was called Brown becuase I am brown. I wasn't black and I wasn't white. And I couldn't understand why so-and-so wasn't called White."
