This page contains info on the equipment Chad uses....what his main amps, guitars, and other things are, and how they are used. Of course, with a new album Chad has changed his gear around. I'm working on getting all the correct info and images. Hopefully that should be coming soon. Enjoy!!

Chad's 1959 "Black Beauty" Les Paul Custom

Guitars

Chad uses many different guitars....over the years, his collection has grown from about 1 or 2 to about 40. These are his main guitars. I'm working on the pictures...

'54 Gold Top Les Paul
'56 Les Paul
'70 Les Paul (his dad gave him this guitar for his 10th b-day, because it was made the year he was born)
'57 Black Les Paul Custom
'59 Black Les Paul Custom. I'm not sure if he even plays this one, it's so much money. This is a damn nice guitar!

Chad's got another JazzMaster. Not sure of the date, but it has been renamed RubyLou. As all guitar players know, a lost or stolen guitar cannot simply be replaced. If anyone has any information on Chad's stolen guitar, please contact the Friends of Live at www.friendsoflive.com"

a couple of '57 Strats.
Custom Shop Bajo Sexto. This was used on "merica," and is really a six string bass.

Gretch Duo Jet. Chad loves this one because of the feeback it gets. Used on Rattlesnake.
Danelectro Coral Sitar. Used on "Unsheathed".

Amplifiers

Chad also has a lot of amps, which he used for recording the albums, but the one used the most is a '65 Fender Blackface Super Reverb, with the volume usually turned up to 10. Chad also met Cesar Diaz, and became good friends with him, and uses hand wired Diaz amps. These include a little Diaz P20, a practice amp that has an incredibly loud sound, and Diaz CD100, attatched to 2 Diaz Cabinets. Live, Chad uses 2 Diaz CD100's, 2 Super Reverbs, and a Fender Vibra-Tone Rotating Speaker. He also uses a Leslie on "Ghost," and "Dam At Otter Creek."

Other Stuff

This is everything else that Chad uses....strings, pedals, stuff like that.

Fuzz Face.
Vox Wah. A reissue of a vinatge pedal.
Diaz Squareface. Chad used to use this during the Throwing Copper days, and I'm not sure if he still uses it or not. It's just like a fuzz, except with a little more gain.

Chad uses regular .09 strings.

Chad has personalized picks made by Dunlop with Live written on one side and his autograph on the other.
