News: Caesar is recording a new album in the USA with Steve Albini

Why is this band called Caesar? Maybe because of the powerful guitarmusic they make.
In 1995 Caesar is contracted by the new music label Excelsior. In the same year they release the vinyl (yes yes) 7" single "Goodbye to Barruschna" At this point we already know this is not an average guitarpop band.
We are really aware of the quality of the band when they release the debut album Clean. Fourteen songs that often don’t last for 3 minutes. They go on tour with their labelcollegues and friends of Daryll-Ann.. They are very enthousiastic about the reaction of the press and the public!
The single "No reply" is released and at the end of the year they perform some covers on the radio in the "VPRO song of the year election" They also played Prodigy’s Firestarter. The single reached nr. 45 in this list.
March 1998, the new album "No rest for the alonely" has finally been realeased. The album has been recorded between July and October 1997 and it is really great. Caesar sounds more professional and controlled. Every song on the album is different. Caesar is over here in Holland frequently on the radio with some great life performances.
And in November Caesar will be on tour in ENGLAND!! I'm sure the British will like Caesar, but I'm not sure if they'll ever hear them. Because in England they say "Everything NOT from Great Brittain sucks". But here is the news: "BEREND DUBBE, formally Bettie Serveert member has joined Caesar on tour". After leaving Bettie Serveert he wanted to help this band out on stage playing on his keyboard, drums etc. I haven't heard it live yet, but I'm sure it will all work out fine!
A new chapter brigs us a quite new Caesar. The new album Leaving Sparks contains more tranquil songs. The album, recorded by Steve Albini is not just a guitaralbum but the band experiments with piano, violin, handclaps and keyboard. It takes some time to get used to it but after a few spins you are again convinced: Caesar is one of the best Dutch bands around. The first single was Stellar Road, and the current single is called Right From Wrong. Vocals by drummer Marit de Loos
