To the disapointment of Maritime music freax, hellifax has lost it's only punk venue. We feel pretty pist at this(well I do) as cafe was one of the only all ages gigs our struggling local bands had. The reason for this-the Neptune Theatre, yes, the yuppies who spent 14 million bucks on a new building, were complaining about the landmark Cafe Ole's sounds going through the walls and disturbing their plays, as well as, coincidently i guess, the owner of Urban Sound Exchange wanted to use it for storage or something stupid like that. Well fuck them. Maybe instead of going to shows, we, the "troubled youth" will start robbing banks, raping old ladies and smoking crack. They asked for it.
(oh yeah, if you go to Cafe Ole's site, thats me(the guy in the audience with the pennywise shirt)at the Daygloabortions show.)
Good News!!!!!!!!
There is a new Cafe Ole!!!!!! In may of 1998, Halifax finally got off it's lazy ass and we now have "The Pavilion". Not a bad place. I had the privilage of going there on June 13th to see Equation of State, Falling Out, North of America, and...and...and...SUBMISSION HOLD!!!!!!! YES!!! They kicked so much ass, so, in conclusion, i am no longer angry at the world (at this anyways), all is well, and i love finally getting to see shows once more.
