Jordan on Access Hollywood
Reporter: Let's talk about New Kids on the Block.. Parents sneared at them, and kids cheered for them. They were cute, had all the moves and they have the hit songs, and they even had their own dolls, remember that? Well now former New Kids Jordan Knight is trying to get past all the and establish a solo career, so we decided to check it out.
Jordan Knight is older and wiser. He is setting out on the road selling himself by himself. Access Hollywood followed Jordan around New York City for a publicuty whirlwind.
Jordan: who's this? (singing the Ricky Matin song) "Woke up in New York City".
The pace of the promotional tour is relentless, new city every day. No time to stop and rest.
Reporter: Jordan's first stop was MTV's studios for a chance to be a guest VJ. But production haulted due to a throng of screaming fans outside the Times Square studios.
Jordan: (looking down at crowd on the street) How much are people getting paid to hold up Jordan Knight signs?
Reporter: But this isn't the first time Jordan Knight had a fanatic following- He enjoyed three number one singles as part of the pin-up band New Kids on the Block. Five years later, his fans are back for more and they're giving jordan all the attention. After a live appearance on MTV, Jordan's next stop was the Virgin Mega store for a mega signing. The experience was overhelming for some of his biggest fans.
Fan: I'm about to faint. I can't explain how happy I am. I got to meet him. Wow, I got to touch him.
Jordan: Every once in a while ther's one that gets overemotional, but it's fun.
Reporter: All this attention is almost too much to handle
Jordan: It's tougher in a sense that yea, that I have to carry all the whole load. If I'm on stage and I'm not feeling well or something like that, another guy can jump in and keep the energy up in the show. But this time it's like all on my shoulders.
Reporter: Jordan's come back wasn't easy. Believe it or not, this seasoned singer had to overcome a servere case of solo stage fright.
Jordan: Just to kind of get over the feeling I had, I started singing in local piano bars under an annoymous name, just so I could get used to doing it by myself. Some people would come up to me amd say 'you're pretty good, maybe you should try this professionally, it might work for you', and I would just smile inwardly because, you know, I didn't want a lot of people to know it was me.
Reporter: Now Jordan has re-emerged and certainly look comfortable, alone in the spotlight.
Jordan: It's just feels good to be able to be the master of my destiny, or the captain of my ship now.
Reporter: If you just got to have it, Jordan's self titled solo album is in stores now and he'll hit the road accross America during July and August with NSync, sort of a 90's New Kids on the Block.
