An Odd Circumstance in Holland...
The bizarreness of Chris Whitley's gig at De Smelt in Assen, Holland on September 12, 1998 has become almost legendary... the "swimming pool" ambience, the Dutch "cowboys," weird acoustics, and strange attempts at a Wild West theme made for a unique show, by all reports.
Despite the "odd circumstance", as Chris called it, our Whitley boy played "like it was his last gig," as talented photographer and concert-reporter Jaap Stiemer asserts. We're lucky that Jaap is willing to share his beautiful and varied photographs!
