What's been happening in PAY*OLA?

What's New? - News September 2000

Alright Rockers! So What's new? - we'll the best news is that Nicky has made a brilliant recovery from his broken wrist - and were ready to get stuck in again. In fact we're already eased ourselves back in with a couple of charity gigs - one in Newry (where there must be something in the water to make the girls so fucking beautiful), and a headliner at the Dungannon Park Music festival, which was..er..different! Nicky has been warned to stay away from bikes, and stick to safer pastimes such as learning to drink properly.

The priority now is to get recording regularly, firstly for our new material for record companies - but hopefully also for our next release. We've a couple of days booked in 'Manor Park' studios, where we will be recording 'What Drives you' and 'How d'you get so low'. We will be recording a lot more tunes though, and would love to hear your suggestions of your favourite PAY*OLA songs via e-mail.

Gig-wise, we'll be booking loads up until the end of the year - and we're aiming to get down to Dublin a lot more often. We're playing an in-store at Virgin megastore in Dublin on Thursday 5th October @ 6pm, and that evening we're playing our first headliner at EAMMON DORANS. We hope to hook up with some of our Dub friends on the night. Belfast-wise we have an Empire Music Hall headliner in the pipeline for Thursday November 2nd. The last couple have been great nights, and we promise our biggest show yet. We should also be playing a slot at this years belFEST event which will happen on the 11th and 12th of October. Keep and eye on our gig list for exact details.

November will see us getting back over to England to capitalise on the great contacts we've made following 'FERRY TALES' - a conformed date is 'Sound Republic' in Leicester Square (the venue we played in the program) on Friday 17th November - though many more dates are to follow.

On the subject of 'Ferry Tales' we hope you managed to catch it and enjoyed the show. For us it was like watching a home video except for the fact that over 4 MILLION PEOPLE were tuning in! We gathered together - along with assistant producer Johnny Muir, who appealed to our basic instincts by arriving with a bottle of Jack Daniels. It turned out to be a ridiculous 7am session. Philip left the house the next day for provisions, and was horrified to be recognised - "I've always wanted to be famous, but not when I'm hungover" bleated the poor boy.

Anyway - big plans are being made - the crusade continues - stay in touch. We love you all!
