Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney yesterday implicitly endorsed US and British air and missile strikes against terrorist targets in Afghanistan.
His support came as thousands of protesters around the world rallied against the war on terrorism.
"I was very pleased to see that President Bush had an Islamic prayer read at the Washington Memorial," Sir Paul said.
"We are involved in striking a blow for the freedom of religions, including Islam."
