YELLOW SUBMARINE
(Lennon-McCartney)
1966
While many have attempted to furnish it with some mystic or drug related
meaning, Paul's "Yellow Submarine", sung by Ringo, was simply intended to be
a children's song. As such, as Paul says, it had to be "...very easy -
there isn't a single big word." "Yellow Submarine" appeared on the flip
side of "Eleanor Rigby", providing the sharpest possible contrast to that
song and evidence of the Beatles new found freedom to please themselves.
Paul McCartney surely succeeded in his original aim, as there can be few
children in the western world who are not familiar with "Yellow Submarine".
In the town where I was born, lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his live in the land of yellow submarines
So we sailed up to the sun 'til we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves in our yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine
And our friends are all aboad, many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play
We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine
Full speed ahead Mr Perkins, full speed ahead
Full speed ahead Perkins, hot potato, hot potato, alright go
As we live a life of ease (life of ease) everyone of us (everyone of us)
Has all we need (has all we need)
Sky of blue (sky of blue) and sea of green (sea of green)
In our yellow (in our yellow) submarine (submarine ah ha)
We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine
