8-17-99 I cut my finger on my fan. How the hell did I do that? I mean, they are "blades", sure, but they're plastic blades. Well, apparently they are sharp plastic blades, cuz sure enuf I have a big gash in my poor ole thumb. Thumb. That's a funny word. Why did they put a 'b' on the end if it's silent? What about dumb? And damn? Why dont we pronounce it "dam-nuh"? And why am I asking you? I just finished reading "Peyton Place", by Grace Metallious. It's a classic. You know what's the cool thing? In the 50's when the book came out, people called Grace "Pandora in blue jeans". Because, like Pandora opening Jupiter's box, Grace's book caused a sensation. And she used to dress "like a man" (in the 50's), wearing jeans and men's work shirts, which was a sensation in itself. I suggest everyone go to the library and check out the book immediately.
