Beautiful Stranger

CHAPTER SEVEN

"He did what?" Victoria asked shocked.

"Yeah. I thought it was weird too," I said, rubbing my head. We were talking about Sean's strange behavior the other night. It left us puzzled. "I mean, besides that, we had a great night. We went to the beach, since we couldn't go today, and we just talked in the sand," I said, trying to justify his strange behavior. "He was romantic, and sweet, and, well Sean! I dont know what happened at the club, but it was weird," I confessed.

"Well why dont you call him and ask him what’s going on?" Vic suggested.

"Cuz I dont think he did anything wrong. Maybe he was just having a weird night," I said in his defense.

"I dont know Summer," Vic said pensively. There was a brief pause. "OH! Guess what?" Vic said excitedly.

"What?" I asked curiously.

"You know that Winter Fest they have up at the amphitheater every year?" Vic practically yelled into the receiver.

"Yeah...what about it?" I asked.

"I got us tickets!!" she screamed. "Its gonna be so great, 18 bands, 50,000 people, and us having fun!" she added.

"Thats so cool Vic. When is it?" I inquired.

"Um..I think its the 21st and 22nd of December," she answered.

"Great. Sounds good!" I replied happily.

"I thought you could ask Sean to go, and I could find a date somehow," Vic laughed as she put an emphasis on somehow.

"Cool! Sounds great! I'll talk to him about it," I said excitedly.

"Great. I'll talk to you later

~ Three Weeks Later ~

Things had been going fairly good for a while. Sean and I had been dating exclusively, classes were set to get out soon for our Winter Holiday, and my parents were out of town for the break, meaning that I was all on my own for my first Christmas. I was kinda excited, but at the same time feeling nostalgic from memories of old times. I was thinking about spending it with Vic’s family, since we'd become so close over the years. Plans were obviously still up in the air.

I shuffled my papers as I tried to get them into my bag. Brit Lit was in 20 minutes, so I was trying to get caught up with the organization part of college as I indulged in a rare free moment. I sipped my morning coffee (which this morning was a vanilla latte) and just kinda basked in how well my life was going at the moment. I was content with everything, and I had that feeling. You know, like nothing could stop me. Except for that damn bell.

"Well why can't you go to the Fest?" I inquired.

"Babe, I’m really sorry, but I had plans," Sean said apologetically. I frowned and gave him puppy dog eyes. Normally it worked. "That ain't working on me babe, not this time," he said through a big grin. I just continued with the act. "Oh man. I wish I could just give in, but girl, I can't. Will you ever forgive me?" he said, playing my own game on me. He did the puppy dog eye thing, and the pouty lips. It worked, quite well as a matter of fact.

"Ok but you owe me mister!" I said, trying to act tough. "Big time." I kissed his forehead. He returned my kiss with another.

"I know babe," he said between kisses. "I'll make it up to you, promise," he said slowly.

I smiled and looked down at the floor. He kissed the top of my head. "Summer, I gotta run. I'm really sorry I cant make it though," he said sincerely. "I’ll call you later." He gave me a quick peck on my cheek, and with that, was gone.

I watched him as he walked away, and felt a twinge of jealousy as 4 girls approached him. They seemed rather happy to see him. Too happy. I didn't think much of it though. They were probably just friends. I reassured myself with this notion as I walked to class, alone.
