» CHAPTER FOURTEEN «

"How long are you in town?" I asked Amanda.

"We can only stay two weeks. My sister, Melanie wants Tiff back then."

"You have to meet the guys. They’re excited to meet you." Alex told her.

"Honey, do you really want to scare her away?" I teased.

"I’m gonna tell the guys you said that."

"So? What are they gonna do about it? They can’t hurt me. None of ‘em are strong enough. Not even Nicky. Maybe Kevin is, but he’s to sweet." I laughed as Hannah started crying. "It’s ok, honey. Mommy’s here." I crooned to her.

"We’re home." Alex announced ten minutes later.

"Honey, what are the guys doing here?" I asked seeing their cars in the driveway.

"It’s my little sister!" Kevin exclaimed running to our car and hugging me.

"Get off me, Kev." I sighed. "Carry Hannah into the house. Alex has to carry bags."

"Hey, Vicki, hey, Bone." Nick called.

"What are you doing here?" I asked sighing.

"Aww, my favorite big sister is mad at me." Nick pouted.

"I am not. I’m just irritated that you guys are here so late." I replied.

"It’s only 10:37." Brian defended himself and the others.

"You guys, we have company and I’m tired from being up all night. Couldn’t you just wait until tomorrow to meet Amanda?"

"We had to meet the newest member of our family right away." Howie replied as if it were that simple.

"Whatever." I sighed and walked off into the kitchen.

"Hey, honey." Alex said walking into the kitchen 10 minutes later. "I’m sorry about the guys. I promise they won’t stay long. They just wanted to meet Amanda. I didn’t invite them if that’s what you’re thinking."

"I’ll be up stairs with the girls. Tell the guys to go home and come back tomorrow, please."

"Ok, I love you." He kissed my forehead and joined the guys, Amanda and Tiffanie in the den.

"The guys are gone, Vicki." Tiffanie told me about 20 minutes later.

"I’m gonna go to bed. I finally got Hannah to sleep and I’m really tired. You’re more than welcome to stay up and watch TV anywhere in the house if you want." I replied standing up. I was in a better mood: watching the girls always does that to me. I walked slowly down the stairs.

"Hi, baby." Alex greeted me.

"Hi, sweetie." I said kissing the tip of his nose as I sat on his lap and wrapped my arms around his neck. "I’m going to bed and I think it would be a very big mistake if you stayed down here much longer."

"Goodnight, Amanda. Night Tiff." Alex said standing up with me in his arms.

"You’re gonna drop me, honey. I’m not as light as I was before the girls were born." I told him so he’d put me down. He finally put me down before we started climbing the stairs. "Just pick a room to sleep in!" I called to Amanda and Tiffanie.
