» CHAPTER FIFTEEN «

Over the next few weeks that Amanda and Tiffanie were in town Alex spent more time showing them around Orlando and taking them to Disney World. At first I went with them, but it got hard taking the girls along all the time so I stopped joining them. I started to get mad about it, but didn’t say anything to Alex.

"Hey, honey." Alex greeted me when I was in the nursery watching my beautiful girls sleep. He wrapped his arms around me from behind and started kissing my neck. "I say we call my mom and have her watch the girls so we can go out for awhile."

"Now you want to spend time with me?" I questioned shrugging his arms off me and turning around to face him.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"Like you don’t know!" I exclaimed and walked into our room so we wouldn’t wake the girls up. He followed me just like I wanted. "You’ve been spending all your time with Amanda lately."

"But-"

"Look, I know she’s your sister and you just found out about her, but that’s no reason to neglect your pregnant wife and daughters!"

"Pregnant??" he looked shocked. "How?"

"What do you mean ‘how’? The same way Hannah and CJ were conceived! God! I can’t believe I married a moron!" I started throwing some stuff into a bag.

"Where are you going?"

"To my dad’s until you get a clue and realize what you have going for you." I replied pushing past him and into the girls’ room to pack some of their clothes. I quickly picked the two children up; walked down the stairs and into the garage almost dropping the bags. Opening the garage door I threw my stuff into the Durango and sped off.

"Daddy, it’s me, Vicki… No, I’m fine. I got into a fight with Alex. Can I stay at the house for the night?… No, he didn’t hit me Daddy, I promise… Yeah, I have the girls… Ok… And Daddy… Thank you." I hung up the cell phone Alex bought me when we first started dating. I had tears in my eyes and my vision was getting blurry. *What a night to get in a fight with the person you love* I thought sadly. It was a beautiful clear night, the stars were shining brightly as if everything was perfect in the world. I arrived at my Dad’s house about 45 minutes after I left my own. James and Ashton were waiting for me when I pulled up. They grabbed the three bags, Hannah and CJ.

"Go on in and talk to Dad. He’s been waiting for you. Ashton and I can take care of the girls." James reassured me.

"Thanks, you two." I gave them each a hug, wiped my eyes and joined my dad in the living room.

"Honey, I was so worried about you when you called." He replied rushing to me and wrapped me up in his warm arms. "Alex called a couple times. He’s really torn up about this. Maybe you should talk to him."

"His sister means more to him than me, Daddy." I argued. "I’m not talking to him until he gets his priorities straight." Everything was quiet for a few seconds. "He’s known me for 7 years and only known her for barely a month. I realize he just found out about her and wanted to spend some time with her, but doing that he forgot about his family."

"Do you really believe that, princess? I’ve known him almost as long as you have and I know how important family is to him especially since he grew up without any sister or brothers or a father. He doesn’t want that for Hannah and Courtney. He’s been in love with you for as long as any of us can remember. Just let him talk to you."

"I don’t know how to deal with this, Daddy. I know I should talk to him and everything, but I’m too stubborn. You know how I am, Daddy. Just let me sleep on it and maybe I’ll call him in the morning." I said through the fresh set of tears. "Goodnight. I love you."

"I love you too, princess." He gave me a kiss on the cheek and I retreated to David’s old room where the girls were sound asleep and Ashton was watching them.

"Hi, Vicki." He greeted me softly.

"Thank you, Ashton. For being you." I hugged him tight, pulling away I grabbed him my the shoulders, "Don’t ever break a girl’s heart. She may never forgive you."

"I’ll try not to. I promise."

"Good." I sighed. "I’ll see you in the morning. Thank you for everything."

"Get some sleep, sis." He told me and left the room.
