» CHAPTER SIXTEEN «

Alex called constantly that night. He even had Brian and the rest of the guys call and try to talk to me. I just stopped excepting calls from everyone except family, Jackie, Heather, Jenna Katie, and the Carter’s. I just laid around the house feeling bad and taking care of the girls . I feel bad that Alex isn’t able to see them, but I’m not about to give in to everyone.

"Hello?… Oh, hi, Katie… Did Alex tell you to call?… I wouldn’t have even left if he had paid this much attention to me when Amanda was in town… Yeah, I know. I love him too… No I don’t want my girls to grow up fatherless... I’m not going to call him. Not today… No… Huh-uh… Why can’t everyone just let me make my own decisions? I’m 21, have 2 daughters and another child on the way… Yes, I’m pregnant again… Not you too! Don’t you people know how a child is conceived?!?… Ok, I’ll talk to you later, bye." I hung up the phone and ran to the girls. They weren’t crying or anything, but I was. Being able to hold them just made me feel a lot happier.

"Can we come in?" James asked holding Matthew with Chastity beside him. "Will you watch him for us?"

"Yeah, sure. I’ve missed my baby brother." I replied putting Hannah down and taking Matt from him. "Hey, Matty. What’ve you been doin’?"

"We went to the park." He said.

"Really? Did you have fun?"

"Yeah. I played an the swings with Jesika."

"Who’s Jesika?" I asked looking up at James and Chastity.

"She’s my girlfriend." He smiled. He’s so cute and… what’s the word? Grown up, I guess. Even though he’s barely 5 he acts about 7 or 8. I sat there playing with the 2 babies and Matthew. He loves being an uncle even though he’s really young. He likes being older than someone, ya know? It’s really cute to see him play with Hannah and Courtney-Jennifer. James and Chastity left me to go on their date.

"Vicki! Phone!" Ashton yelled just as CJ started howling.

"Tell whoever it is I’ll call back! I gotta take care of CJ!" I yelled.

"She said it’s really important and it’s long distance." He called.

"Ugh!" I groaned carrying the girls to the hall way extension. "I got it!" I yelled to Ashton. "Hello?… Hi, Amanda… Yeah, I did… No, it wasn’t just because of you… I promise. I’ve been getting touchy for a while, this just kinda set it off… I can’t do that right now… If he wanted me so much he would’ve said something. Or tried harder to talk to me or get a hold of me… I don’t think he loves me anymore… I’m serious, Amanda… Well, I have to go. There’s another call coming in… Ok, I’ll think about it… Bye." I switched lines and the second I said Hello this is what I heard:

All Five of them. I know Alex put them up to that and I just wanted to cry for bein’ so… bitchy. I was going to call Alex’s cell phone to apologize, but I decided to give it a day or two.

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling a sharp pain in my stomach. I got up to go to the bathroom and noticed all the blood. I screamed as loud as I could and fell to the plush carpet crying.

"What’s wron-. Ohmygod! Call 911!" James screamed to the rest of the house. I guess I passed out because the next thing I knew I was in a hospital bed with an ivy in my arm and my dad at my bedside.

"Daddy?" I whispered.

"Oh, sweetheart! I thought you were never going to wake up!" He exclaimed hugging me.

"Daddy, what happened?" I asked remembering all the blood. "Where are the girls?"

"The girls are fine. James stayed with them and Matt." He said ignoring my first question.

"Daddy, what happened to me?" I demanded. He didn’t answer me. "Dad, please, tell me. I can handle it, I promise."

"You… You lost the baby." He said softly. "The doctor said it was from too much stress, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant again. You lost a lot of blood and they had to do a blood transfusion. You’ll be able to go home in the morning. They’re keeping you here all day and tonight for observations."

"No!" I screamed. "I can’t lose my baby!"

"Shh, honey, it’ll be ok." He soothed me. "Everyone’s here. To see you. Do you want to see anyone special?"

"Is… Is Alex here?" I choked out.

"Yeah, I’ll get him." He smiled at me. "Don’t worry, princess, I’ll take care of you." He kissed my forehead and left the room.

"Hey, baby." Alex’s raspy, sexy, voice whispered.

"Honey, I’m so sorry!" I wept as he slid his arms around me. "It’s gonna be ok." He told me. "We can have more kids. I promise. We’ve already got 2 beautiful girls that aren’t even a year old. Maybe we should wait a year or somethin’ to have anymore."

"I love you." I sighed leaning over to give him a kiss.

"I love you too." He smiled.
