» CHAPTER THIRTEEN «
"No, but that's my true opinion until it's proven wrong." I got up quickly and put my tennis shoes. "You have plans today?"
"Nope," B-Rok responded.
"Good," I instructed, "Let's go."
"Where?"
"You'll see." We got his car and drove away.
"Plleeaassee tell me!" Brian whined hyperactively.
"We're going this park." I thought about my hidden willow tree I sit under just to be alone.
"We aren't going to swim again, I hope." He smiled.
"No. But it's a little farther away now." We arrived and I took him down the path. Greens in all shades enclosed around us. Small crickets occasionally chirped. The branches of trees reached down, as if to touch us. I took Brian's hand as we approached the tree. All of its small, bendable branches brushed against the cold, brown soil. I parted a modest path and was in a familiar enclosure. It was like a big room. The "walls" were made by the branches and leaves. In the center of the room was the large, dependable trunk.
"This is wonderful!" Brian exclaimed.
"I come here when I'm sad." I looked at the tree trunk again. It was a dark brown and was rigid. I sat down on one of its huge roots. "I've never shown this to anyone before."
"This is great, Morgan, thank you for taking me here," he appreciated it.
"Why did you have such a sudden change of heart?"
"Because you seemed like a great person to get to know. And besides, I didn't want to get hit by that right arm. That would just... hurt." He sat next to me.
