» CHAPTER TWENTY «

"I just LOVE your music!" Brian mocked my words, "You are a certified flirt, you know that, right?"

"Am not."

"Am too."

"Am too."

"Am not... Hey...wait a second!" Brian stopped and put his hands on his hips and I couldn't help laughing.

"Come on, silly." I grabbed his hand. I noticed Howie talking to Janet Jackson. We waded through the ocean of people to the two.

"Hey Howie." I put my hand on his shoulder.

"So this is Morgan," Janet assumed.

"Yep."

"I'm glad to meet you." Janet stuck out her hand. "I was backstage at the time of the whole thing. You know, you're pretty popular at this party. Everyone's talking about you."

"Really?" I couldn't believe it, me, a nobody out of boring Michigan, could be popular in a room of famous somebodies.

AJ ran to us and looked at Brian, out of breath. "Can I borrow Morgan?"

"I guess..."

"Thanks, Rok... Let's go..." He grabbed my arm and basically dragged me to the elevator.

"You ready to dance?" he asked me, breathing heavily.

"I imagine, why?"

"Because there's this dance contest and I need a partner!"

"And Mr. McLean's back with a lovely partner!" a familiar voice boomed from the speakers. I looked to the tall stand at the back of the extensive room and found Justin from N' Sync.

"Let's get this party started the right way!" AJ yelled, signaling the DJ to start the music. It was a fast dance beat. "Ready?" he asked. I nodded. "Let's go!"

And within a flash, we slipped and slid up and down the dance floor. My body moved faster and faster. I was full of energy and was definitely showing it. I got closer to AJ, maybe an inch or two away. He moved his body so slow, but so smoothly. We parted and did our own thing. He looked at me and smiled. I kept dancing, my body nothing but a blur.

From the corner of my eye, I saw someone join the crowd that circled us. Nick from 98. He smiled at me shyly and observed our actions. I decided to get close to AJ again. He put his hands on the curve of my body as I slightly shook myself. I looked down at him because he was on his knees, looking at me with confidence. He got up, still in rhythm, and danced. The song came to the big finish and at the end, and I ended in his arms.

"That was...amazing!" Justin admitted into the mic. "I have never seen that much stamina in anyone's dancing."

AJ looked into my eyes. He pulled me back up on my feet. "Where'd you learn to dance?"

"You and two years of creative dancing."

"No wonder." He smiled. We walked to a small bar in the back of the room and ordered some drinks. AJ drew his attention to the lady sitting next to him and began a conversation with her
