» CHAPTER ONE «
~ Amanda ~
"Mom, can't I go to Europe this summer with the boys? Please? I'll take BJ's tutor along with us so I can catch up when I get back. Please?" I looked at my mom.
"No. It's BJ's turn." She put dinner in the oven.
"Mom, that's not fair. She always gets her turn when they go to Europe. I've never been there. Please?"
"I'm just afraid, that's all. Since you've never been there, the boys can't escort you around everywhere. I'd just feel safer if you stayed here in the US and go on Aaron's tour." My mom sat down at the table.
"Uh!" I stormed out of the room.
"What's wrong?" Nick asked me.
"Mom won't let me go to Europe with you. She's too afraid. Yet, she'll let BJ go. I'm a year older than her. It's not fair. She won't even talk about it now." I sat down with a huff onto the couch.
"I'll talk to her. BJ wants to do some modeling in California this summer. She doesn't want to go this summer. I'm sure if I talk to mom, she'll calm down. She did with BJ."
"Yeah, that was cause she went with her until she felt comfortable enough. I don't want mom with me. I want to go. I'm considered an adult." I stared at the blank TV screen.
"I'll talk to her. Go upstairs and wash up. Dinner will be ready and the guys are coming over." Nick patted my leg.
"Okay. Thank you, Nick." I gave him a kiss on the cheek as I left. I ran upstairs to the bathroom. After I washed up, I went into my room that I shared with BJ. Since BJ was gone for the week, I enjoyed my freedom.
I fixed my hair and put on some lipgloss. Getting out my Abercrombie & Fitch cologne, I put some on. I made sure that my green dress wasn't wrinkled. When I was done, I went back downstairs and into our playroom. In the playroom, I put Christina Aguilera in the CD player. After pressing play, I went into the living room and sat down on the couch. I was glad that Nick had the stereo run into each room.
"Baby, baby, baby. ooooooooo, my body's saying let's go, ooooooooo, but my heart is saying no. If you want to be with me, baby there's a price to pay. I'm a genie in a bottle, gotta rub me the right way," I sang with the song.
"What are you listening to?" my mom asked.
"Christina Aguilera. Why?"
"I've heard her before. Does she sing for the Mulan soundtrack?"
"Yeah."
"Amanda, I'd like to talk to you after dinner if that's okay."
"If the guys don't go do something."
The doorbell rang.
"That's the guys. I've got it," Nick said as he answered the door.
"Leslie!" Nick yelled. "Your friend’s here."
Leslie ran down the stairs and to the door. "Come on in, Tiffany."
Tiffany and Leslie walked into the living room. "I didn't know Nick was your brother." Tiffany looked around the living room.
"Yeah, I told you that. Remember?"
"Yeah. You just haven't introduced me to him." Tiffany looked at me.
"Who's she?"
"My sister, Amanda. She's cool. You'd like her if we could hang out. She'd take us to some cool places. She's met No Authority before."
"Way cool. Where's BJ? She's been to Europe."
"Some where. Amanda, where did she go to this week?" Leslie asked as she sat down next to me on the couch.
"New York for a fashion shoot."
"Oh, that's right. I think that's pretty cool."
"So, who's the oldest sister? Is it BJ?" Tiffany asked as she sat down on the couch.
"No. Amanda is. She's 18." Leslie looked at her watch. "Well, if we're gonna hit the movies on time, we gotta jet."
"What about dinner?" I asked.
"We're eating out. Mom's taking us to Pizza Hut."
"No fair. I'm stuck here with her cooking." I laughed when my mom threw a towel at me.
"Just wait, little missy," my mom threatened. "Let's go, girls. I'll see if Angel wants to go. Angel! Do you want to go?!"
"Only if Aaron wants to go, too!" Angel yelled back.
"I'll go!" Aaron shouted.
"Let's go, then! We're headed out the door!"
Angel and Aaron came down the stairs, and the five of them left for the movies and pizza. Nick came over and sat down on the couch. As soon as he did, the doorbell rang.
"I've got it," Nick said. He answered the door and let the guys in.
"Hey, what's up, Sweet Stuff?" B-Rok asked.
"Nothin' much, Rok. What about you?"
"Just hangin'." Brian sat down on the couch next to me.
"Dude, my hair won't stay in place," complained AJ.
"Hey, Bone. Grab a hat. I've got some hangin' by the door," I said as AJ sat down in a chair across from me.
"What's up, Sugar?" Kevin asked.
"Nothin'. Just chillin'," I answered.
"Well, Sugar, we were thinkin' about ditchin' your mom's cooking for some restaurant food. What do ya say?" Howie asked.
"No problem. I just gotta put it in the fridge first."
"I'll help," volunteered Nick.
"We'll all help," added B-Rok.
"Just remember to cover it first," I said to B-Rok.
"Yeah, I know." He poked me in the side.
"Better watch it. Just because I have a dress on doesn't mean I won't wrestle you down." I laughed as AJ cheered B-Rok on.
"Hey, Sugar. So, are you and Nick twins now?" Kevin asked.
"Why?" I asked.
"Didn't you notice that you were both wearing all green? Now you guys have the same eye color, name, and clothes color. The only difference is the hair color and the skin color."
"Yeah, I'm darker."
"You guys are twins." AJ laughed.
"Omigod," I replied. "We are matching. Nick, go change. I like this dress."
"No, you change. I like my outfit." Nick looked at me.
"Fine. Then put your glasses on." I started to walk further into the kitchen.
"You know, I hate to intervene," B-Rok said. "Especially on a family moment like this. Sugar, you should probably change into some kind of pants. We might do something besides eat."
"Like what?" I put my hands on my hips.
"Bowling," AJ said with a sneer.
"Oh, yeah. Nick told me I have to beat you at that." I looked at Nick.
"If you put the food away, I can be back down in.....let's say ten minutes."
"Can do, sis." Nick saluted.
I rolled my eyes and raced upstairs.
"Hey, Amanda. Did mom come home yet?" I heard from my room.
"Dad, what are you doing in there? Mom left just a few minutes ago with Leslie, Angel, and Aaron. The guys just got here." I walked into my room. My dad was wrapping up a present.
"What is that?" I asked.
"It's a present for your mother. She wanted it when we were in Spain, so I bought it for her without her knowing. I want to give it to her for her birthday." My dad hid it under my bed.
"Dad, you're supposed to ask before you come into my room. You're gonna be treated just like the other guys if you keep doing that," I scolded.
"I didn't do anything," my dad said with a little innocent look on his face.
"Well, I have to kick you out. We're going bowling, so I have to change." I ushered my dad out of my room.
"Okay. Have fun. I'll be going over to George's house. He wants help with some stuff." My dad kissed me on the cheek.
"Bye, daddy." After he left and went downstairs, I shut my door. I changed into my black shorts and my green FUBU midriff. I put on my socks and a pair of my Nike shoes from a country I couldn't remember. When I came downstairs, Jordan Knight's "Give It To You" was playing in the CD player. I silently laughed when I walked quietly into the kitchen. The guys were dancing and wiggling their butts while they put the dinner away. I couldn't hold it in any longer when B-Rok used the spatula as a microphone.
"Hey, you weren't supposed to see that," Kevin said.
"Too bad, I already did." I laughed, but stopped when B-Rok started to head towards me.
"Paybacks are always sweeter," B-Rok commented.
Oh shoot, what is he gonna do to me? I thought. I braced myself for the worst, but B-Rok had gone back to putting the dinner away. I walked into the living room and almost made it to the playroom, when B-Rok jumped on me from behind. I screamed my surprise as we both fell on the floor.
