» CHAPTER TEN «

For you kiddies who skipped Chapter 9, here is what you missed:

Brian opened his eyes to find himself naked and spread eagle. He is at 4 point restraint so he can't go anywhere. These comes in and seduces him. Brian resists her the whole way and then gets mad at himself for letting her take advantage of him. That's basically it, now on with Chapter 10!

These ran her finger along Brian's chin. "Now that...wasn't too hard...was it?" She purred.

Brian couldn't answer. He was disgusted with himself. Then realization hit him; he had been raped.

Brian wanted to be anywhere but where he was. Hot tears cascaded down his cheeks. He was ashamed he had given in so easily. He refused to look at These. "Please... let me go."

These could see the sadness in his eyes. She heard the urgency in his voice. Knowing that he had no where to go, she climbed off of him and punched a code into a panel by the bed. As soon as the claps freed his limbs, Brian curled himself in a ball away from These. His ankles and wrists throbbed from all the strain he had put on him. Although his eyes were clenched tightly closed, tears escaped and spattered on his exposed skin.

These watched the man before her crumble. She could see his shoulders shaking from his sobs. "Brian?" She called out as she reached out to him. He recoiled from her touch whimpered.

Brian didn't want anything to do with These. He wanted to be far away from where he currently was. He filled his mind with happier thoughts. Something in the back of his mind made itself present. Cheste. Brian could picture her opaque dress perfectly in his mind's eye. Her satin hair framed her face perfectly, yet it waved behind her in a mysterious wind. Cheste's melodic voice filtered into his ears. Instantly, he was at ease. Her voice seemed to give him a sense of protection and comfort. Brian's mental vision blurred and his physical surroundings became sketchy. Once again, the Nyton part of him told him that he was being transported somewhere. Brian accepted that instinct this time but one thought came up: where?

* * * * * * *

Brian's eyes fluttered open. The room's dim light flickered, making things hard to see. However, there was one unmistakable figure supporting his aching body; Cheste. Despite her pain from her beating before, she smiled at Brian. "Glad you decided to rejoin the land of the living."

"How long was I out?" Brian's scratchy voice asked.

"Not too long. I was laying here and then you just materialized. I kind of forgot to mention that characteristic. I'm sorry. Now, enlighten me on why your ankles and wrists are cut and why you are what's the word...naked." Cheste's voice was soft, yet commanding. Upon hearing her words, Brian broke into a new wave of tears. Cheste didn't need him to tell her any more; she knew.

Brian once again calmed down. "Can I transport us back to Earth?"

"I don't know. I don't know how far you can go and if you can take other beings with you."

"I know others can come with me because that's how These got me...." Brian's voice caught in his throat.

"Don't think about that now. We need to get out of here, the more time we spend talking the further away we get from your home planet. I believe you may be limited to distance, so seconds are critical." Cheste said.

"Does the door open from the inside?"

"No, I've tried it already."

An image flashed through Brian's mind. "Mom?" The word was barely audible. He shook his head and stood up. "Take my hand," he instructed quietly. Cheste complied without questioning him. Brian concentrated on the hallway outside of the door.

Several seconds later he was in the brightly lit corridor. Both the Fetra and the Nyton blinked several times to adjust their eyes. A Nyton headed toward the duo. Without thinking, Brian charged toward the woman and tackled her with strength he never knew he had. Within seconds he had her pinned to the floor.

The Nyton was unfamiliar to Brian and she inquired, "What do you want?" For some reason unknown to Brian, she was afraid of him and her voice trembled slightly.

"Your cloak and cooperation." His teal eyes were cold and showed no traces of the breakdown he had experienced only minutes before. Brian let her up, but still watched her with a critical eye. She removed her cloak like he had asked her to and she handed it to him. She wore a plain jumpsuit underneath. From the time she had started charging them to Brian had tackled her, she turned into human form. The young man took the cloak and covered himself quickly. He made sure to tie the sash around his waist so the material didn't fly up and expose him. "You're a Nyton I presume?"

"Yes."

"Then you can tell me if I can transport myself back to Earth right?"

"No you can't. The distance is too great." Brian realized for the first time that she was speaking in the ancient language and he was picking up her words without a second thought.

"What's the maximum distance I can be?" Brian inquired.

"I can't put that into terms you will be able to understand. Although you'll know the words, you won't know the measurement."

Brian's interrogation stopped when he heard a familiar voice. "Brian, why are you terrorizing her? I believe it is me you're after." These walked up to the group. "I figured you would come to her, all I had to do was wait." Brian glanced at Cheste and then back at These. For the short time Brian's eyes were locked with hers, Cheste got the message. Brian had an idea and all she could do was trust him.

~ Present Day ~

Nick stared mesmerized at Brian. He noticed Brian's pause. "Go on!" he urged with childish enthusiasm.

"The next part is hard for me to relay to you. Give me a minute to compose myself and then I'll continue." Brian responded patiently.

Nick looked on with eager eyes but didn't pressure Brian into telling him. He knew the older man needed time to collect himself. "The next part happened so fast it's hard to recall everything." Brian paused. "But I can see it all in my mind's eye perfectly." There was another pause. "The next significant thing that happened was that night. There was a little more that happened before then, but it's really not important."

"Will you tell me anyway?" Nick urged.

"I'll give you the cliff notes version. After These came to us, there was a small brawl in the hallway. I'm not quite sure how it happened, but we won. I remember Cheste and I running down the hall to get away from These and then...." Brian's voice drowned out.

"Then what?!" Nick was about to jump out of his seat in anticipation.

Brian backed up his story a little. "First, the girl who gave me her cloak disappeared. I guess she didn't want to get involved or something, I don't know. Then These charged after us." Brian stopped dead.

"And?" Nick looked wide eyed at Brian.

"Shh.... She's here." Brian's voice was hushed.

Nick lowered his voice as well. "Who's here?"

"These." Nick's blood ran cold as Brian spoke. Brian abruptly looked up and shouted. "Come out of hiding you b*tch!"

The most beautiful woman Nick had ever seen appeared sitting on the table. She had long brown hair and teal eyes. "Temper, temper Brian. I thought you became more peaceful since I had last seen you."

"I was until YOU showed up." Brian spat.

"Well, you know the rule, no humans were to know of this. I had to come and investigate. And since I found you telling him, he will have to die." These scraped her nail across Nick's cheek.

"No he won't." Brian stated.

"Oh really now? Oh do tell how you will spare his life." These found Brian's words entertaining.

"Two ways: One, to get to him, you'll have to get through me. And I KNOW you won't kill me. And two, I may be only half Nyton, but I've learned one thing in these last two years."

"Which is?" These's voice did nothing to hide her amusement.

"I still have power over you." Brian's voice was dark and his teal eyes began glowing. Nick had never seen Brian so confident or daring before. It was almost like he was challenging his death.

Still, These remained unaffected. She decided to have a little fun with Brian and the human. "Tell him the rest of the story Brian. I'm sure he'd LOVE to hear it." Nick wasn't so sure any more if he WANTED to hear the end of the story. "Tell him how Cheste died. Or possibly how you got back to Earth. Maybe he would like to know who Caitlin's mother is."

"Leave Caitlin out of this!" Brian fought to keep his composure. "Why don't YOU tell him the rest, since you brought it up."

Nick spoke for the first time since These arrived. "I don't think I want to hear the end. I'll just be going now...." The blonde began to get up.

With the blink of an eye, These had a stronghold on Nick and she pushed him back in his seat. She spoke in a voice that resembled a growl, "You don't go ANYWHERE!" Nick gulped and looked at the woman who had his life in her hands.
