» CHAPTER ONE «
Welcome to Part 1 of BSB Superstars/Superheroes.
Since the boys debut in 1995, they've been keeping a secret from their fans, a secret that could destroy them forever if found out by anyone. It's such a big secret that they can't even tell their families that they are... superheroes with special powers. What special powers? Well, let us tell you.
First, there's Nick. This blonde-babe can make anyone melt with those baby blues of his, literally. Also, he has the ability to fly and see the future, which comes in handy when trying to find bad guys or if he has a date planned for the upcoming weekend. Plus he has powers he hasn't even discovered yet, like x-ray vision.
Brian's powers are a bit more complicated. First of all, this cutie has a killer (and we do mean killer) sense of humor. Anyone exposed to it for more than a minute will literally die from laughing so hard. This power comes in handy when faced with a villain who is heavily armed, because if you moved anything besides your mouth, your life would be over. Also, he didn't really have heart surgery. What happened was that a device was inserted into his chest that when provoked, will cause him to grow bigger than his bodyguards, who are basically the size of elephants. Along with this size comes huge muscles, so Brian could pick up and throw a jumbo jet if he wanted to. Last but not least, Brian has the ability to shoot lasers out of his eyes. He could take out a whole city! And you thought his eyes were only gorgeous.
Next, we move onto Kevin. This guy certainly has a few tricks up his sleeve. He has more than tricks - try muscles made of iron. The reason why you can't tell is because they're painted the same color of his skin. You hit those, talk about breaking your knuckles. Ever wonder why Kevin's eyebrows were so bushy? Well, those bushy brows contain a highly powerful laser that can fry the baddest of bad guys. And that whole appendix thing? Completely untrue. Actually when that happened in Germany, he really went in to get a radar put in that can locate bad guys. And we thought those tight abs were just for show.
With AJ's funky looks, come funky powers. Ah, yes, our dear AJ has some interesting ones. Let's start with the hair. It's radioactive. The amount of radiation depends on what color it is. When it's red, bad guys beware! Onto his shades. Everyone wonders why he wears them. What is he hiding? We'll tell you. AJ has the most penetrating stare in the universe. We've all seen glimpses of it and we all think it's sexy. But in reality he can crumble concrete and bend anyone's will just by looking at them! Now for the tattoos. They're cool, but we bet you didn't know that under each one lies a different type of weapon. If you look closely at the tattoos, you will be able to tell what kind of weapon it is. We would tell you, but hey, we can't give everything away!
Howie D. also has some cool powers. You sure wouldn't know it to look at him, but he could kick some villain butt in a fair fight (but what villain fights fair?). First of all, everyone knows he has a twitch in his eye. But it's not just a nervous tick. What he's really doing is sending out secret messages in Morse Code. How about that one eye that's bigger than the other at times? If Howie's in a fight, he can make that one eye bulge out really far and knock people out. His hair- that greasy troll hair. He can actually sweep it around and pick people up with it! And lastly, one of the most useful powers: Howie has the uncanny ability to impersonate a woman. He already sounds like one. Who's going to suspect a woman? Well, lots of people, but that's beside the point. The point is, no one suspects a Howie woman. Pretty cool, right?
Moving on, you might be wondering how we know all of this. Well, we can't tell you because that would be wrong and the BSB would use one of their many lethal weapons to kill us. But don't worry. We'll tell you later.
Right now, we've gotta describe their hideout. This place is the hideout of hideouts, and the funny thing about it is that it's so obvious, nobody really notices! It's in downtown Orlando, and it's in a fairly modern building, which is why so many villains miss it. You enter through glass panel doors and you're in this hall that creates an optical illusion that makes you think it's longer than it really is. Plus the walls and the door to the secret lair look identical, so you can't tell how to get in, but after searching the walls a few times you figure it out.
When you finally manage to enter, there's a huge room that takes up the entire length and width of the building. It's painted a soft slate gray with black marble floors. Each boy has his own section to decorate anyway he pleases. At the far end is all the technical equipment the guys need to keep track of all the bad villains.
Let's start with what AJ has in his section. This guy has a love of theater, so he's got pics of the Phantom of the Opera up on the walls. He also has a picture of his mom and one of him and one of him and the boys in their superhero costumes (we'll talk about those later). Also in AJ's section, there is a portal that will let him see certain things that could happen if he does a certain thing, or doesn't do something, etc. He has a desk with a McDonald's dispenser on it and a mini pool table.
Next comes Nick's section. It's very creative. But he's a creative person, so why wouldn't it be? Anyways, Nick's relentless love for Nintendo really shows. The walls are covered in drawings of different Nintendo game characters, a majority of them Cloud Stife from Final Fantasy 7, Nick's favorite game. Of course, there's also pics of his family. Also, there's a device that helps Nick keep track of the future - a magic mirror, which helps to sort out confusing events that are unclear to our dear Nicky. Oh yeah, to keep up his talent, he also has a drum set in the corner.
Now onto our eyebrow-laser shooting, iron man, Kevin. This serious stud is known to go a little crazy with decorations, no matter how simple they are. First, there's a grand piano on one side (being the oldest, he gets the largest section) so he can work on songs while he's not chasing bad guys. Also, there's a machine that updates his laser powers, so they can be deadly every time.
Now onto our other Kentucky-born babe, Brian. This section definitely shows off his love for b-ball. He has posters of famous athletes all over the walls (b-ball stars of course). He has a hoop hung on one wall too, so he can practice shooting whenever he's not on the lookout for villains. Other things he has on the walls are pics of his dog, Tyke (the group superhero mascot) and pics of his family. Something else in Brian's section is a virtual basketball net. You control the ball with your eyes to get it in the hoop. Nick designed it and Brian loves it. It helps him strengthen his laser shooting eyes.
Now we come to Howie D. His section is pretty basic, but it does have a few interesting features. One of which would be all the Treasure Trolls (remember those short dolls with freaky hair and jewels in their stomachs?). Also, the room is decorated in various shades of pink and purple. Since Howie has a love for guitars, he has a special one that writes a song if you pluck a single string. He got it when he fought Guitar Gus, one of the wussier villains.
Alright, new topic. If you're going to be a superhero and save the world, you have to look good, right? All superheroes have costumes and our boys are no exception. Each one of them designed his own costume, so you know they're gonna be dope.
We'll start with AJ's costume. The colors are purple and yellow of course. They really stand out, which is what he likes. It's made of Spandex and it really shows off his tight abs. There are also holes in the suit where his tattoos are, so AJ can gain easy access to the weapons underneath them. He also has little bone silhouettes running up the arms. He wears boots, which are either black or dark purple, depending on the light. And let's not forget his mask, which goes across his eyes and down the sides of his face. Don't worry, it has built-in shades. It too is dark purple/black. His cape is long, satiny, and purple. A theater mask is emblazoned on it.
Next comes Kevin's costume, which is quite colorful and interesting. His costume has every color of the rainbow, from mask to feet. We know, it seems weird for serious Kevin to be wild and "bright" with his costume, but it's about time he lived on the edge. Kevin's suit isn't tight pants wise but he does have a sleeveless muscle shirt so those iron arms and radar abs can be shown off and work at the same time. He's got black combat-type boots and his mask covers his entire face with holes so his laser eyebrows can work. Despite his crazy outfit, Kevy-Kev does not and absolutely refuses to wear a cape, much to many villains disappointment.
Howie D. comes next, trolls and all. His outfit mainly comes from his section of the hideout though there are some slight variations. For one thing, it's not pink and purple, it's pink and orange. Yeah, bright. There are little jewels all over it, so he sparkles when he walks. He wears platform boots and his cape is really unique. It has guitar strings on it that you can actually play a song with! Howie is usually the guy that stands out the most when he's in costume. But it's not the suit, it's the mask. It covers the top half of his head. The top has troll hair. Yep, built in, bright orange, sticking up troll hair. Now tell us that's not an attention getter!
Okay, onto Brian. His costume is pretty unique. But why wouldn't it be? Okay, we figure you're dying to know, so we'll get right to the point, err... outfit. Ready? B-rok's costume looks like a basketball uniform! Jersey, shorts, sneaks, and all. It's blue and silver (except for his shoes which are blue and black) and has the number 5 on it for the 5 BSBer's. And to hide his identity, he's got a mask that looks like a blue and silver basketball. Now if that isn't unique, we don't know what is, other than Howie's troll hair mask, but that's a scary unique!
Okay, we saved the best for last - Nick's up next. Remember the drawings that were in his room in the US version of "I'll Never Break Your Heart"? Well, Nick's costume looks like that, only it's green. Very mechanical looking (think Robo-Cop and if you still can't figure it out, come up with your own idea). And it has weapons in it. All Nick has to do is press a button on the arm and a laser rises out of the sleeve. He doesn't use it that much though, only when Howie needs protection. But here's the different thing, Nick doesn't have a mask. He does, however, have a green bandanna thing around his head, going under his hair and around his forehead, just above his eyes.
