» CHAPTER ELEVEN «

"We can take my car to the hospital," Brian told Howie and A.J.

"No, I'm going with Kymmi in the ambulance, I'll meet you there." Howie got into the ambulance next to Kymmi and within seconds the ambulance drove off.

"Come on A.J."

"Wait, we need to find Jana..."

"We can tell one of the officers, I'm sure they can find her."

"Yeah, okay."

They were fading away. The bright stars in the sky were fading away. Her smile grew. It would be over soon. And she was glad. If she couldn't remember his face then she wanted to die. Her smile quickly vanished when she heard a voice. It sounded so far but it couldn't have been. She saw a shadow hovering over her. That was all.

Kevin walked over to Julia and stood right in front of the bed. He took the keys in his hands and threw them on to the bed. "I can't believe I wasted my time on you," he said turning around and leaving.

"Kevin wait, please"

"I did wait... I waited for years for you... and this is what I get for waiting" he said, his eyes burning into hers.

"So that's it... this is where it ends?"

"No... it ended the second you got into bed with him."

"Come on Kevin, please... I forgave you for what you did to me, why can't you do the same..."

"Cause Julia, you wanna know what the difference between what I did and what you did is?"

"What?" she said softly.

"I didn't sleep with anyone," He slowly walked out the door the pain of what happened imprinted in his heart forever. He could never let go of her... but he'd never be able to tell her.

"Jordan we need to talk," Nick said grabbing her before she could leave.

"I don't want to talk Nick," she said trying to get out of his hold.

"Please."

"Fine, Nick, you wanna talk? Let's talk. Let's talk about what it felt like to see you in bed with her. Let's talk about what it felt like to see the man I love with another woman. Let's talk about how you threw away 16 years of friendship in one night. You wanna talk about it Nick? Fine. Let's talk" she said tears streaming down her face.

Nick lowered his eyes. He couldn't look at her, she meant everything to him, but he couldn't look at her. One night, everything fell apart. "I need to know where we stand," he told her.

"I don't know. I don't know anymore Nick. I can't even stand being in the same room with you. I need time to think this through. A lot of it" she said finally out of his grasp.

"I love you Jordan, I'd do anything for you."

"Then leave. I want you to walk out of my life right now... and never come back."

"Jordan, please, I need you..."

"Please Nick, if you love me... let me go, and walk away. Don't ever look back, cause I won't be here for you." Her tears stopped as she stepped aside for him to leave. She lowered her head to the ground as Nick walked passed her. He never looked back. She watched him leave and he never looked back. She would always be there for him... never letting go. Always looking back, to see if he is. But he wouldn't be. She watched him leave and he never looked back.

"Howie, how is she doing?" A.J. asked when they arrived at the hospital.

"The doctor said she's gonna be fine. The knife wound didn't puncture any vital organs."

"That's great man," Brian said giving him a hug.

"Excuse me, A.J. right?" an officer said looking at him.

"Yes, what can I do for you officer?"

"We found Jana,"

"Where is she?"

"I have some bad news..."

A.J. walked into Jana's room. She was so peaceful. He sat down next to her bed and placed her hand into his. He placed his forehead on it and then kissed it. "You were supposed to come over tonight remember? I wanted to go with you tonight... but you wanted to be alone. I shouldn't have listened. I shouldn't have listened." Jana's body was motionless. Her skin had no color. But she was still warm. He looked at her hand in his and spoke, "I know you're tired, and can't speak... but that's okay, I just need you to listen. There's this feeling inside of me. It's there whenever you're around. I never want to lose that feeling. Jana, I never want to lose that feeling." A tear ran down his cheek. "I'll be waiting for you tonight. I'll be waiting for you. I know you'll come. I'll place a rose outside my door for you. And I'll be waiting."

He tried to swallow his tears but he couldn't. The tears fell out and he didn't stop them. He got off his chair and gave her a kiss on her forehead. "That was the first place I ever kissed you, remember?" She said nothing. And she never would. He turned around and began walking out of her room. He knew she wouldn't come. But he'd still wait for her. In one night, it was all over. One night. He knew that when he left her room, he'd never see her again. Never be with her. But he continued to walk. If he stopped, he'd never be able to let her go. He wanted her, needed her for two years... and now he had to let her go. In one night, it was all over. He left the room... but a part of him stayed there. A part of him stayed with Jana... to keep her from harm. To keep her safe. A part of him stayed there. In one night, it was all over. One night.
