» CHAPTER FIFTEEN: THE WONDERFUL END «

And so our story comes to an end. The Backstreet Boys had become a well respected musical group, and were still going strong. Golden had been your basic pop group. They never released another album after their first. They were one hit wonders, and proud of it. All five of the couples married over the next few years. First Tory and Brian, then Gwen and Howie, with Monica as their flower girl. Followed by Kate and Kevin. And Crystal and Nick a few months later. Kayla and AJ were the last to get married, they had a wonderful little boy named Alex. They called him the Backstreet Baby, thought up by the same man who dubbed Monica the Golden Child.

But now I take you to a scene twenty years later, another wedding. A mother is carefully fixing a veil over her daughters curls, off in a daze.

"Mama, Mama!" the daughter calls to her.

"I'm sorry, Monica. I was just thinking how I met Howie," Gwen said, looking into her daughter's eyes. She added, "You look so much like your father."

"I look nothing like DH, Mama."

"I was talking about Jon, dear."

"Jon is not my father, Mama. DH is," Monica said.

"I still remember when you gave Howie that name. You were about 6 or 7 and you got sick of calling Daddy Howie when you needed him. So you shortened it to DH," Gwen said, sharing her memory.

"I remember," Monica replied, smiling.

"Now you and Little Alex. The Golden Child marring the Backstreet Baby....." Gwen trailed off.

"He's AJ now mom, not Little Alex. He's 20 years old!" Monica said.

"No, he'll always be Little Alex to me. AJ is his daddy," Gwen replied.

"And, Mama, please stop using those silly nicknames, I always hated being called the Golden Child," Monica said.

"Of, course," Gwen said. "Now, off we go. It's time for my little baby to get married."

"Whats wrong, Mama? Don't cry!"

"I'm only crying because I couldn't be happier, baby" Gwen said. She thought back to the wish she had made 20 years earlier, about having a second chance. It had come true with a vengance. I guess things like that really do happen to people like her.
