» CHAPTER FOUR «

At the park, the group splits into two groups. Jenny decides to go with Howie, Brian, and Leigh-Anne. Kelly ends up with Kevin, Nick, and A.J. After the groups are settled, they talk about where to meet, and when.

"I think we should meet at the front gate, in maybe a couple of hours. Does that sound good to everyone?" Kevin asks.

"Sure, That's okay with me."

Jenny looks at Kelly.

"Kelly, Behave." She says, sarcastically

"Yes, mother." Kelly smiles.

Jenny smiles as they turn to leave.

"See you later."

The other group walks towards the park. Nick and Kelly wanted to go on the roller coasters, so that's what they went on. The other group, with Brian afraid of heights, and Jenny not liking roller coasters, went on the slower rides. The group goes on the ferris wheel. Howie and Jenny sits in one seat, while Brian and Leigh-Anne gets in a couple seats ahead of them. The ride
was going fine when suddenly it stops with Howie and Jenny at the top. Brian and Leigh-Anne already got off the ride, so they are on the ground. While they wait for the ride to be fixed, Howie and Jenny talk.

"You must really care about Kelly, if you worry so much." Howie says smiling.

Jenny nods.

"Well, I'm sort of like a parent to her. I'm her legal guardian." She says quietly.

Howie looks at her in shock.

"What about your parents? Where are they?"

Jenny sighs, "They died a few months back."

Howie whispers, "I'm sorry, Jenny. Are you all right?"

Jenny nods. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's just a delicate subject. I don't like to talk about it that much."

Howie nods understanding, and looks down to see how they are doing on the ride. Then he sees Brian and Leigh-Anne. He laughs, and points at them.

"Look at them!"

Jenny looks down and sees Brian and Leigh-Anne goofing around, and playing with food they got while waiting. Brian is trying to stuff cotton candy into her mouth.

Jenny laughs, "They must really love each other. I don't think anyone would just do that."

Howie looks at her and smiles, and without thinking says, " I love you..."

Jenny suddenly looks up at him in shock. Howie, realizing what he said, blushes a deep red, and stutters.

"Oh, man. OOOOh man," and looks around.

Jenny blushes also.

"Howie, it's okay."

Howie doesn't listen, and continues avoiding eye contact.

The ride starts again. As soon as they got down on the ground, Howie runs to Brian, and pulls him away. Leigh-Anne looks after them and turns to see Jenny walking slowly towards the group.

"Jenny, what happened? What's wrong with Howie?"

Jenny sighs and sits on a bench nearby. Leigh-Anne follows and sits next to her.

"We saw you and Brian fooling around, and I told him, that you must really love each other,... and then he told me that he loved me. I don't think he knew what he was saying, until after he said it. I was shocked that he would feel that way about me, only after we've known each other for a day. He couldn't say anything after that, he just stammered. I tried to talk to him,
telling him it was okay, but he wouldn't listen. Then the ride started again, and here we are."

Leigh-Anne sighs, and leans back on the bench.

"Howie is a romantic at heart, and when he says stuff like that, he usually means it. And he probably didn't know that he loved you, until he said it. I think he needed to talk to Brian, and try to make some sense out of this." she explains.

Jenny nods.

"I guess so, it's just... it's real fast, you know."

Leigh-Anne nods. "I know."

In the men's room, Howie is pacing back and forth, trying to tell Brian what happened.

"I can't believe I said that. Usually, I only say that to my family, and close friends, but not like this... not to someone I only knew for one day!"

Brian tries to talk to him.

"Howie, calm down, what happened? What did you say?"

Howie stops pacing and calms down a little bit.

"I just told Jenny that I loved her. I couldn't believe it when I said that!"

Brian sighs, "Do you love her? The truth."

"I don't know, that's the thing. I only knew her for one day. People don't fall in love in one day. I don't know what to say to her now, Brian."

"Well, for one thing, people fall in love in less than one day. It's not uncommon. Tell her how you feel, and ask her out on a date. See if there is something really there. The worst thing she could do is say "No."

"I guess, it's worth a try."

The guys go to find the girls. When they finally found them, Howie walks toward Jenny. He stops in front of her, with her sitting on the bench. Leigh-Anne walks away towards Brian. Howie sighs.

"Jenny, I do like you, and I was wondering, would you like to go out for dinner with me? We can talk, and hang out."

Jenny gets up, " I would love to go out with you. We can have fun." she smiles.

Howie sighs in relief and hugs her tightly. Brian and Leigh-Anne smile at them. It was getting late, so they head back to the front gate, where they meet the others. Kelly, Nick, A.J. and Kevin, were standing by the gate, talking.

"I had fun today, didn't you?" Nick asks.

The group nods.

"yeah, it was fun. But I'm beat. I need to get to bed." Kevin states tiredly.

They saw Jenny's group coming back, and they talked about the fun they had. Jenny and Howie didn't tell anyone what happened between them. They head out to go home. Howie walks Jenny to the door. Kelly walked ahead of them and went inside, leaving them alone.

"I had fun today, thank you." Jenny says.

Howie nods, and smiles. "Yeah, me too."

They stand there looking at each other, and Howie kisses Jenny on the cheek.

"I'll call you tomorrow, we'll go out then. Okay?" Howie asks.

Jenny nods, "Okay, talk to you tomorrow, then."

Jenny goes in the house, and Howie walks back to the car. The guys tease him. They head back to the hotel, and Jenny and Kelly goes to bed. They had a busy day.

The next day, Kelly hangs out around the house, since there is no school for the summer. Jenny, on the other hand, is getting ready for work. She works in a daycare center, and loves every minute of it. She loved working with kids since she was a little kid, herself.

"Kelly, I'm going to work now. I'll see you later, don't forget your house key if you're going out. Okay?"

"Okay, Bye!"

Jenny heads off to work. Kelly cleans up the place, a little and calls her friends, and watches t.v. The boys are in the studio, rehearsing, and recording for a new single. Howie can't concentrate as he thinks about Jenny, and their date for that night.

"Howie, concentrate! That's the second time you missed your cue." Brian yells.

"Sorry." He tries harder.

Later that night, Jenny gets ready for her date with Howie. The guys decide to go with Howie, to hang out with Kelly, while Jenny is out.

He decides to wear a tie, but no suit. Just a white shirt and dress pants. He smiles, and heads out to the guys. They see him coming down the hallway.

"OOOOh very nice threads, Howie. Going to a wedding?" A.J. teases.

The guys laugh and Howie shakes his head, smiling. They head out to Jenny's house. Howie stops at a floral shop, and gets a small bouquet of flowers for her. He gets real nervous. The guys notice, and tries to reassure him.

"Howie, relax. You look great, and I'm sure she'll look great. You'll both have a good time, okay? Relax." Kevin states as he drives down the road.

The guys agree and Howie relaxes a little. They pull up at the driveway, and they walk up to the door. Howie knocks.

Jenny is getting ready, when she hears the car pull up. She gets real nervous, but tries to relax herself. Kelly answers the door.

"Hi guys, Howie, you look great!"

"Thanks Kelly, is Jenny ready?"

Kelly smiles and shouts for Jenny.

"Jenny, they're here!"

"I'll be right there!" Jenny shouts back.

Kelly lets the guys in and they all wait for Jenny to come in the room. Kelly lets them sit down. Howie stands by the door, and waits for her, getting very nervous. The guys notice. Kelly does too.

"Howie, relax. You'll be just fine." Kelly states.

As she said this, Jenny walks in the room. She decides to wear a small black skirt, with a nice white blouse. She's wearing a natural look of blush and eye shadow, and her hair is curled and held back with a clip. The guys stare at her, and Howie smiles.

"You look great! I can't believe it."

Jenny smiles and gives him a hug.

"Thanks, you look great, yourself"

Howie smiles, and hands her the flowers.

"Thank you, they're beautiful."

She gives them to Kelly to put in water, and head out with Howie.

"I'll see you later." Kelly states, and smiles.

Kelly and the guys decide to go to the movies, and hang out at Jenny's house.

Jenny and Howie goes to a fancy italian restaurant, and goes dancing.
