Nick set the pizza down on the coffee table in the living room and went into the kitchen to get a coke. While he was in there, he used my phone to check his messages on his answering machine. Nick walked back out and said, "Pssh, what a jerk. One of my friends is dumping his girlfriend so he can go date a ton of girls. And he used the excuse that he wanted to be single."
"That's what you said to me, Nick." I said.
Nick looked at me and then to Brian, "Yo, gimme a piece of pizza, Brian."
I sighed, got off the couch, and went upstairs to my room. Christine followed me. She walked into my room and sat down next to me. "I just want you to know that I think Nick is a jerk-"
"It's okay Christine," I replied, quietly. We just sat there a minute, waiting for each other to break the silence. After another minute, my closet doors slammed shut. We both jumped, screaming.
"WHAT?!" The guys yelled, coming upstairs to see what was wrong.
Christine ran over to AJ and tried to explain between sobs. "We were just si-sitting up here and then.. then the doors slammed shut!" Kevin walked over to me to see if I was okay. He glanced up at Nick, and saw him shove his hands in his pockets and look around.
"Maybe it was the wind.." Nick suggested.
"The window's closed." I answered almost right away.
"Well.. c'mon. Let's go back downstairs." AJ said, pulling Christine towards the door.
Brian followed them, "I- I'm not in the mood to watch a scary movie."
"Yeah.. me too," I added, quietly. Kevin walked with me out of the room, with Nick not too close behind. Nick stopped in the doorway and turned around, looking at the room. Kevin turned and said, "Nick. You comin'?"
"Huh? Oh, oh yeah. Be right there." Nick answered, looking back in the room. After Kevin walked downstairs, Nick reached for the light switch and turned off the light. After that, all you could see was a small red glow.
